Myrtle cottage is a modern, dedicated living space annexed to our 17th century thatched cottage. Pitney itself is a delightful small village situated above The Levels. There is a traditional pub serving real ales, local ciders and great home cooked food and the superb Pitney Farm shop offering organic meat and veg from the mixed farm & market garden. The area offers lovely walks directly from our garden up into the hills at High Ham or down on to The Levels and the river Carey. With a newly fitted kitchen, together with a comfortable lounge, bedroom & shower room which are all privately accessed from our large garden it provides a lovely place to relax. Our garden stretches to an acre which together with a terrace area may be used by guests. You might even decide to eat out in the garden area. There is good wifi & Smart TV with access to Netflix etc as well as a DVD player. At Myrtle Cottage we have ample space on our drive for off road parking! We live in the adjoining thatched cottage and will be here to welcome you & answer any questions during your stay. But equally, we will discretely leave you to your own devices as you wish. Walks from Pitney are myriad whether you want to venture down on to the levels and experience the wildlife alongside the river Cary or perhaps walk up to the windmill at High Ham, the area is one of outstanding beauty. There is a popular traditional pub less than 600 yards away - they serve a range of real ale and proper pub food. It has regularly been written up in the national press. Pitney itself has a fabulous farm shop & cafe both selling homegrown organic produce. It is a ten minute walk away & open six days a week. Somerton is 2 miles east of Pitney - a pleasant walk to this lovely bustling town previously the ancient capital of Somerset & also possibly the capital of Wessex. Enjoy lunch and a drink in one of the many hostelries, or perhaps coffee and a cake in the market square. There is a regular bus back to Pitney but the return walk is equally delightful. Langport boasts the river Parrett which served this old port town and now provides for scenic walks and somewhere by which to relax. Glastonbury & Wells are within 30 mins & Burnham on Sea is only 40 mins away. Well behaved dogs (no more than 2) are welcome but not on the furniture! We have a Norfolk Terrier who will be pleased to make new friends with polite dogs - especially small ones.
