Private Twin-Bedroom - Room 2
Our rooms are located within our quiet campsite, Camping La Pointe. You have use of a shared kitchen/diner and 2 bathrooms (shared only between the three bedrooms). Laundry facilities are downstairs in the campsite shower block. Nestling along the edge of the Nantes-Brest canal. Perfect for cyclists and walkers, or the perfect base to stay longer and explore the area. Our rooms are bright, clean and spacious. Sitting in a valley, we are mainly surrounded by peaceful woodland. We hire bicycles if you wish to cycle along the canal - or further! We have maps and plenty of tourist info on site. We have a small cottage garden where we grow and sell veg/salad in season and our lovely hens lay the tastiest eggs. Guests are welcome to access all garden areas, we also have our own woodland walk. There is an information room with leaflets and posters highlighting local events and places of interest, including museums, theme parks, chateaus, gardens and shops. The laundry area is within the shower block, we have a washing machine, tumble dryer (both for a small fee) as well as laundry sinks and and airer. During summer months the games room is open to all, where you can play ping pong and board games. There are a couple of sofas where you can sit and relax or read from a large range of books available. We are on site almost all the time and are happy to offer our knowledge of the area and what's on nearby. We are located just outside Chateaulin on the edge of the commune of Saint-Coulitz. A few minutes drive, 10 minutes cycle or 20 minute walk along the winding canal path opposite our entrance takes you to the picturesque town of Chateaulin with its many cafes, restaurants and bars. It also boasts a tourist information centre, post office, cinema, bakeries, pharmacies, supermarkets, clothes and gift shops allowing you to buy groceries, memorable gifts or stock up on the essentials (yes there are also several wine 'caves'!) . A weekly market on Thursday mornings boasting fresh local food produce including fish, meats, cheeses, hot food, fruit and veg among other things and is a regular meeting place for locals and tourists alike. Many social/festival events are held during the summer months including the annual fireman's ball with live music and food ending in a stunning firework display. Others include an annual fair, organised cycle races (big in France) with competitors from all over the world, musical evenings with traditional Breton sounds and dancing, outdoor cinema, and childrens entertainment. Stroll beautiful beaches less than 12 km away, or visit Brittanys famous, cobbled town of Locronan, voted one of the prettiest in France. The mystical forest of Huelgoat has unusual rock formations renowned for its many mythical legends and stories. The nearest city of Quimper is less than 30 mins drive, here you will find the famous and beautiful Saint Corentin Cathedral along with a large food hall, many restaurants, cafes and bars. A range of unique shops and boutiques fill pretty pedestrianised streets and a cinema complex on the edge of the small city regularly screens films in original languages. There is so much to see and do, you will experience a true taste of Brittany's unique culture, heritage, vibrant landscape, cuisine and its very warm welcome. During the summer holidays, a bus stops outside each lunchtime to take guests to the nearest beach at Pentrez - a vast stretch of a sandy bay to one side and coastal walks around the rocky coves to the other, with a return bus bringing you back at teatime, it's the perfect afternoon out. We have a selection of bicycles we hire out on a half day/daily/weekly basis. A 2km walk through Chateaulin is the train station, with regular services to the stunning city of Quimper with its cobbled streets and gothic architecture only 20 mins away, or Brest, a modern maritime city with it Naval base and modern shopping a 50/60 minute ride. Parking in most towns and villages is free, we recommend purchasing a blue parking permit (available in many supermarkets and newsagents) for a one off fee of approx 3€ as there are often "blue zone" parking areas that require this. City centres mainly charge for parking. This is a room-only price. We do not provide breakfast. The rooms are situated above the shower block in our campsite. Wifi currently unavailable in the room but is freely available near reception. For the comfort of all guests, we ask for quiet during the hours of 11pm and 8am and to be mindful of excessive noise at all times, including playing music and shouting. Smoking is only allowed outside and away from doorways. Thank you
