Our welcoming family home is the perfect place to stay on the edge of Dartmoor. It is a ten minute walk into the attractive town of Ashburton noted for its cafes, antique and gift shops. The stunning countryside and coastline of Devon is on the doorstep. The attractively furnished vintage style room has tea/coffee making facilities and a fridge. Breakfast is provided in the room. It has an en-suite bathroom with a large shower. There is off-street parking and on-street parking right outside. The space is ideal for relaxing short breaks, holidays and business trips as well as for stop-overs, on the way to Cornwall, the Isles of Scilly or the ferry crossings to Europe from Plymouth. It is also a 5 minute walk to the Ashburton Cookery School. The comfortable room is a mixture of modern and antique furnishings and has an en-suite bathroom with a spacious shower enclosure. The room has a large TV and a DVD/Blu-Ray player, together with a selection of DVDs and books for your use. There is tea and coffee making facilities, real coffee and a cafetière, a selection of herb teas and a fridge for any food or drink you wish to keep fresh in your room. Plates, wine glasses, cutlery and ice cubes are also provided. There is also a hair dryer and hangers for clothes. A light breakfast of cereal, yoghurt or milk and fruit is included in the price and is provided for your convenience in the room. We have a working pottery and offer lessons and unique pottery available to buy. The room is on the first floor, accessed by stairs, with an en-suite bathroom. We can recommend lots of interesting places to visit, places to eat out and can advise on Dartmoor walks. We can loan you books and maps if you need them. A folder of tourist information is provided in the room, which includes some walking routes with instructions that can be borrowed. We are aim to be as flexible and helpful as possible, in order to make your stay a very pleasant and rewarding experience. Ashburton is in an a beautiful scenic area, with Dartmoor on the doorstep with its spectacular rocky tors, rivers and woodlands. A 15 minute drive will take you to some of the best known tors on Dartmoor, whilst the South Devon Coast is a 30 minute drive away. There are also many interesting tourist attractions nearby, such as waterfalls, nature reserves, zoos and National Trust Properties. It is a particularly good area for walking, cycling and most outdoor activities. There are walks nearby for all abilities, from a gentle stroll around a lake at a nature reserve, to an all day hike across the moor -compass required! The town centre is a ten minute walk away and has a range of cafes, Deli's, antique and gift shops. There are 4 restaurants that offer evening meals in the town, as well as a selection of pubs that offer food. There are many other restaurants in the nearby towns of Newton Abbot and Totnes, which are both a 15 minute drive. The famous Riverford organic farm is a 10 minute drive away, with its farm shop, café and renowned evening restaurant. The attractive and interesting cities of Exeter and Plymouth are a 30 minute drive. There is a small grocery store which is a 5 minute walk from the house. The house is situated on an easy to find residential road with plenty of on- street parking, as well as off-street parking if required Ashburton is an excellent base from which to explore Dartmoor, the coast and further afield within Devon. Driving is simple and straightforward from the house, due to easy access to the A38. There is public transport in the form of buses to Newton Abbot, Totnes, Plymouth and Exeter, with the bus stop a two minute walk from the house. The nearest train station is seven miles away in Newton Abbot. For those people arriving by Public Transport, who want to explore Dartmoor without a car, there is an occasional bus service, local guided walk options and the possibility of lifts, by arrangement.
