Beautiful, spacious and modern house in the peaceful hills of Kandy. Minutes from the heart of the city, including historic cultural attractions like the sacred Tooth Temple. While staying at Mountain Views, you can make day trips to many interesting places within 60km range in 3 to 4 days: Sigiriya Rock Fortress & Dambulla Rock Temple, Nuwara Eliya & tea plantations, Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage & herbal gardens etc. The house is located in between Dharshana Mawatha and Deepthi Mawatha. However, primary access is from Dharshana Mawatha. The elevation difference between the two roads is about 15m. Hence the access to the house from Dharshana Mawatha is at the 2nd floor level where the main living area is set out. From the common balcony at the entrance floor, a panoramic view allows you to see a large undisturbed area of land and a range of mountains. This is a very relaxing place which you would love! Four of the bed rooms are at 1st floor level and one at 2nd floor level. All have the views of the mountains. You have a private and a very spacious kitchen and dining area at the ground floor with the exposure to natural environment. It is a reasonably equipped kitchen with basic facilities such as a gas cooker, rice cooker, kettle, fridge etc. You can come by car, train or Sea Plane from Colombo to Kandy. If you come by either train or Sea Plane we will arrange a pick up. If you arrive by Sea Plane with Cinnamon Air from Central Colombo you will land on the reservoir just a few minutes from the house. It is a little jetty on the reservoir - no queues for baggage here!. I can highly recommend the sea plane as a quick and wonderfully scenic way to get to Kandy. You can relax and have a glass of wine or beer at the main balcony in the evening while enjoying the panoramic view of the mountain peaks like a row of arrow tips. There is a caretaker (Jey) to help you when ever you need. He will make sure that your stay is comfortable. Please let him know when you would like to have your breakfast. You can order meals through him. He will get it delivered when ever you need it at a reasonable cost. Jey and his wife (Malini) have been commended by every guest for their attitude and kind gesture. They will make sure that your stay is comfortable and relaxing. Malini can baby sit at a very reasonable cost of $15/day. There is a private kitchen at ground floor. You can prepare your own meals as well. Jey & Malini will help if you would like to have their assistance. It is only a walking distance to the Polgolla Dam, which is built across the Mahaweli river; the longest river in Sri lanka. It diverts the waters of the river at Polgolla to the Dry Zone through five miles long an under-ground pressure tunnel connecting Mahaweli to the Sudu Ganga, to generate Hydro-electric power. You can easily take a tuk-tuk taxi (a mini-taxi) to the Kandy town at any time. It generally takes 10 to 15min to reach the town center. There are public buses which you can take within 2min walk from the house. However, the most time saving mode of public transport is a tuk-tuk taxi. These mini taxis are fairly cheap to travel short distances. You will be staying in a very descent, peace-loving neighborhood. They love to maintain the natural beauty of the environment. Mahaweli River water diversion dam is only 5 min walking distance from Mountain Views. Sea plane jetty is also within walking distance. Village baker who bakes things in a traditional wood fire oven is within 2 minutes If you can afford to stay a few days at Mountain Views, you can have a relaxed and peaceful evenings after day tours to Kandy Tooth Relic Temple and Kandy Botanical Gardens, Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage, scenic drive to Nuwara Eliya through tea plantations, Climbing Sigiriya rock and visiting Dambulla Rock Temple, Minneriya wild life park etc. Also, you can experience knuckles range and have a relaxed evening at Mountain Views. You can also visit traditional Kandyan Dance performance in the evening.
