There are many walking tracks to help you explore this vast and varied park. Stop for refreshments at Studley Park Boathouse or Fairfield Boathouse. Darebin Creek walks are also a highlight of the area - you won’t believe we are just 7kms from the CBD! Kissaten Cafe is closest (50metres). It serves tasty Japanese inspired food and drinks. Hoppa & Joe Cafe and Arthur Street Food Store is 500metres away. The bus to Fairfield Boathouse, Carlton, Melbourne University, quirky Fitzroy & Queen Victoria Market is 50metres from the house. Our street is a friendly suburban street with wonderful neighbours. Fairfield Boathouse sells great food & you can hire a row boat or kayak. It is a nice easy walk to it or you can take the bus. Grandview Hotel has comedy, live music, good meals - about 500 metres away from our house. Easy Car Parking outside the house. OR you can buy a MYKI Card at a MYKI ticket machine or 7Eleven at a cheaper price. There is a local bus called the 901 which will take you from Melbourne Airport to Broadmeadows Station. From there you can catch a train to Flinders Street Station or Southern Cross Station in the CBD. Then take a train to Fairfield Station (which is our closest station) - from Platform 1 at Flinders Street Station and from Platform 9 at Southern Cross Station. TAKE NOTE: The 901 bus is very slow and may take many hours to get to our house. This bus is not a very fast way to travel! Two of our guests took this bus to Hurstbridge Station and then caught a train to Fairfield which took them well over an hour. You can also catch the Skybus from Melbourne Airport or Avalon Airport into Southern Cross Station in the city & from there to Fairfield Station. The Skybus costs more money than the 901 bus. You could register with Uber (which is like a cheaper taxi service) & use Uber to get around Melbourne. You could catch a taxi to get around Melbourne. The local 'Age' Newspaper is available to read each day. Very tasty jams, marmalade & olives made by Hal. Soft Egyptian Cotton towels & sheets. Lots of information about Melbourne, what to see & how to get around, MYKI Cards to use.
