It doesn’t get any more socially distanced than 2 miles to our nearest neighbour, beat the lockdown blues with our beautiful self-contained (own kitchen & en-suite bathroom) glamping pods made from quirky converted shipping containers, complete with own wood log hot tub& BBQ/fire overlooking the sunset from our working farm set in the Welsh Mountainside. What more, with plenty of local walks, cycle routes and local outings from Alpaca’s to kayaking, there is enjoyment for everyone's stay with us As an active farm & lambing season amongst, guests staying in April may get the opportunity to see some freshly new-born lambs (from just a few hours old) from our expected stock of circa 500+. We have 4 Pods, Albie’s Den, Winnie’s Lodge, Evelyn’s Hide-out & Frasers Tavern, each with its own design & characteristics set into the welsh mountainside on our working farm, surrounded by rural mountain landscapes & our 700 strong flocks of sheep, curtailed by a stream which flowing water will bring serenity as you sit out on the deck over a log fire, or enjoy the outdoor rooftop hot tub whilst the sunsets. The pod is made from a converted shipping container but comes with all the creature comforts of a city hotel, flushable toilet, handwash basin & shower, central heating throughout (set your own internal temperature with thermostat), full kitchen complete with sink & hot-running water, gas hob, fridge freezer, microwave, toaster & kettle. Once you’ve enjoyed a day’s physical activities walking/cycling, & perhaps an evening watching the sunset over a glass and a BBQ, retire to the double bed to soak up the stars throughout the skylight directly above the bed or get cosy under the covers with a selection of DVDs, TV and books for your enjoyment. More practical amenities included cover basic cutlery & cooking equipment, whilst a Michelin chef may struggle, a single gas hob for a cooked breakfast or microwave some sides to accompany the BBQ. Washing up liquid, soap & shower gel, tea, coffee, sachet milk, salt, pepper & cooking oil are all provided. If planning to make sure of the self-contained kitchen, it may be worth stopping at a local supermarket on the way in to buy groceries that can be kept in your own fridge. Logs & firelighters are provided for the hot tubs & fire fit/BBQ. Please note due to the very remote countryside nature of the site with limited electrical supply, the hot tub is heated by a log burner which requires guests to operate. We normally advise if immediate to use that you light it on arrival and it’s ready for you early evening then which you can top up as you wish. - Black Sheep Glamping is set in the Welsh mountains of Felindre, just 8 minutes from the M4 Motorway Junction 46, overlooking the city of Swansea just 10 miles away. The site is set into the mountainside where your only disturbance is from some of our sheep on our active working farm, rural getaway if you’re looking to escape the city for a weekend break, or perhaps a romantic getaway for 2. With several marked walks (see our images for detailed routes & maps) right on your doorstep: - Walks to reservoirs for a coffee or kayak at the Paddle Water sport centre - Visit to the Welsh Valley Alpaca Centre just 1.5 miles away - For the fitter more active amongst our guests, cycle the Welsh mountains with bikes available to hire from £10 per hour or bring your own – please contact us in advance to reserve these - More advanced hikers/ramblers, the site skims along ‘The Gower Way’ walk, a much-loved route stretching from the Gower Peninsula to Penlle'r Castle (note not for the faint-hearted) -Further afield, some 30 minute’s drive from the National Welsh Botanical Gardens, a must see for new visitors to Wales -12 miles to The Gower Peninsula, higgled acclaimed as some of Europe’s best beaches with Rhossilli & Three Cliffs Bay -Finally, if you do head to Swansea centre with much to see and do as any UK city, for those with a sweet tooth be sure to check out Joe’s Ice-cream, a loved hidden secret on the Mumbles beach / seafront. Whilst the location is remote, it’s just 8 minute’s drive off the M4 motorway Junction 46, for ease of access by car. For those travelling by public transport, the closest train station is Swansea City. Taxi from there will be approx. £25 (note. Uber doesn’t currently operate in the city so local taxi is required) or you can take the number 24 Bus to Morriston Hospital, where we may be able to arrange transport at a cost of £10 - please note this requires pre-booking and in certain circumstances due to farming commitments we may not always be able to accommodate. Each pod has a pathway and road access although we ask guests to park their car in the main car park unless require assistance due to mobility or loading/unloading baggage at which point they may drive to the pods for a short period of time. Note, as the pods are set into the mountainside, pathways are set on inclines & some steps so please contact us in advance with any mobility requirements and we will do our best to assist – if booking with accessibility requirements, due to the location, ‘Evelyn’s Hide-out’ is the best in terms of ease of access. Furthermore, if you are travelling with a low/sports car, you may wish to park at the main farmhouse, and we will do our best to arrange transport to the pods due to the inclines on the mountain road. Please note due to the rural nature of the location, a number of roads area single lane for 2-way traffic – please take care and attention to oncoming traffic & give-way for larger/agricultural vehicles who may have difficulty reversing to the many passing places a the roadside For those travelling by public transport, the closest train station is Swansea City. Each pod comes with key code combination for check-in/access any time after 3pm on the day of check in, the combination will be sent to you directly on the morning of your stay. Please note, due to the remote location of the site & number of pods/guests we have at Black Sheep Glamping, we are unable to offer check-in before 3pm due to cleaning arrangements (please do not ask as it always leads to an awkward rejection especially after you have booked). We apologise for any inconvenience caused but would invite guest who are travelling far to enjoy he local area & amenities beforehand (furthermore, the same applies to check-out which is strictly 11am, again to ensure the PODS are cleaned the same standard you found them for the next guest to enjoy, we asks all guest to kindly ensure they are checked out with all personal belongings by 11am sharp on the day of checkout). -Enjoy the tranquillity, space & views of a 150-acre working farm set into the Welsh mountainside.
