A true Canadian wilderness experience in the Sunshine Valley. Two hours from Vancouver and 30 minutes from the Lodge at Manning Park, this gorgeous getaway is a true log home adventure. In the winter, ski, snowshoe, ATV, build a snowman, slide down a hill on a toboggan, or snuggle up with a good book by the fireplace. In the summer, hike, canoe, paddle board, fish, ATV. It's all here. if you like cats, bring treats! This is a private suite in the downstairs area of the home. It has one very large bedroom with an electric, heating fireplace where the bed can either be a king or 2 twins. The room is very cozy and romantic. Imagine low lights, fireplace, sheep skin rugs. There is a sitting area in the corner where you can snuggle up and read a good book and have a cuppa as well. The living room is a large, 260 square foot room with an electric, heating fireplace and 2 fold out single couches. There is a DRY kitchenette with everything you need to make many kinds of hot meals, however the prep space is small, so best to stick with simple meals. There is an induction burner, a toaster oven, a small microwave and an electric frying pan. There is a tub to do your dishes. You just need to get hot water from the bathroom tap. There is a lovely bathroom with heated tile floors and a rain shower to provide a luxurious, spa like experience. If you are holding your wedding in the Fraser Valley, this is the perfect honeymoon suite. We are 15 minutes from Hope where you get gas and groceries, so make sure your tank is full and you bring the food you need. There is no pizza delivery here. :-) There is a local liquor store that also has a few emergency foods like milk and bread. Bring a cooler if your food will not fit in the mini fridge and make sure you leave them inside so it doesn't get invaded by the local critters. You will have internet access and Shaw TV, however your cell phone may cut in and out. Bring your snowshoes and your downhill and cross country skis if you want to venture to Manning Park for some fun in the snow. In the summer there are canoe rentals and paddle board rentals for the lightning lakes and a great, easy hike around the lakes. Please note that we are in the mountains where snow tires are required by law from Oct 1 to April 30. I live just 3 minutes off the highway. The road is well maintained, but there is a short hill that can be slippery at times. I live upstairs on the main floor and will be here to greet you, show you the ropes and will be here much of the time if you need anything. There are neighbours here, almost as close as you would find in the city. It's a small, bush community of about 160 people that live here year round. A walk through the area is gorgeous if you love log homes with lots of character. There is also a walk along the river. You will see wildlife in the summer, deers, wild birds, and I have bear spray and a bear bell you can borrow. You never know what else you may see. Bobcats, lynx, marmots, fox, martins, these are all rarer sightings, but you never know! The only way in and out is to drive. Be careful in the winter not to park your car alongside the roof where you could get snow dumped on it. Please note that we are in the mountains and snow tires are required by law from Oct 1 to April 30. The house is 3 minutes off the highway on a dirt road. There is a short hill that can be a little slippery at times. AWD not required, but helpful. Ask me if you're not sure. The convertible beds say they are not recommended for little ones 5 and under. Not sure why. Also, although the suite is brand new and not animal friendly, there are catsthat lives upstairs and who likes to sneak downstairs on the odd occasion, so if you are severely allergic you may find yourself reacting. It's best if you like to hear the pitter patter of little feet as the cats tend to chase each other around a little.
