The Milking Parlour is a spacious barn conversion with a cosy log fire, underfloor heating and its own pretty enclosed garden great for watching the sunset over the sea. Exposed beams and rustic features are coupled with modern fittings, WiFi and smart TV to make the Milking Parlour a comfortable, tranquil and characterful place to relax. Situated on the edge of the lovely village of Berrynarbor on the beautiful North Devon Coast the Milking Parlour is a great base for exploring the area. Converted from the original Milking Parlour to what was once a farm, the cottage is roomy, bright and airy with views across the old farm yard and Exmoor to the east and views out across the old barns towards Watermouth Harbour and the sea to the west to enjoy the sunsets . The decor is simple to show off the old beams and stone. There is a well equipped kitchen that opens onto the enclosed garden so it is a great for eating outside and with an upstairs bathroom and w.c. and a downstairs shower room and w.c. the Milking Parlour happily accommodates a family or groups of friends. It is an all seasons space with a large comfortable lounge with smart TV and log burner and there is free WiFi throughout. You have the whole cottage and its garden for your private use. The front, or back depending on how you see it, of the cottage has a private gravelled terrace to catch the morning sun and this overlooks the shared space of the old courtyard. The other side of the cottage has another enclosed gravel garden with views over to Watermouth Bay and is the best place to watch the lovely sunsets. We run Marlyn B&B which is just across the court yard from the Milking Parlour so are available should you need us for anything. We can offer (with advanced booking) home cooked Farm House evening meals for guests of the Milking Parlour. You get the 17th Century dining room to yourselves and can enjoy a meal in front of the fire if you fancy a change from self catering. If interested we can let you know what is on offer. The Milking Parlour is on the coast on the outskirts of the pretty village of Berrynarbor which is between Ilfracombe to the west and Combe Martin and Exmoor to the east. We have a local pub, The Olde Globe in the village and the Sandy Cove Hotel is just over the coast road from us and you can get onto the South West Coast Path here too. We have wonderful beaches worth a visit all year round and the lovely 'secret beach' of Broadsands is just ten minutes away by foot and is a good swimming beach. Kayaks and paddle boards are available to hire in Combe Martin and there are boat trips from Ilfracombe where you can also sail to Lundy Island for the day. there are excellent walks directly from the Milking Parlour including up onto the Hang Man hills of Exmoor. Ilfracombe and Combe Martin have plenty of places to get a meal and our community run village shop has a really good selection of groceries including great cheeses and local meats. Fresh fish and lobster and crab can all be got on the Quayside at S&P fisheries in Ilfracombe. If you fancy fresh crab or lobster we can order it for you or you can enjoy it cooked by us with all the trimmings if you fancy a relaxing evening meal at the Farmhouse (pre-booked). During your stay why not have a day out without the car? The Milking Parlour is a few minutes stroll from the 301 Filers bus stop. This is a great service, even though it is only hourly, as it gets you into Ilfracombe in ten minutes or further on to Barnstaple in about 50 minutes. There are plenty of good local taxis too.
