This spacious, well-equipped modern bungalow is set in a convenient and quiet location in the countryside near Slimbridge, adjacent to the River Cam. It is an excellent spot to base your holiday and has ground floor accommodation which is approached by a ramp for ease of access; there is also a lawned front garden with a large patio area and riverside views. The living room is bright, airy and has a feature vaulted ceiling and a modern inset woodburner. One wall has full height and width windows overlooking the garden and fields beyond (in which our three friendly alpacas live). A sofa bed is available for occasional use if required. The open plan dining room has a large oak table seating 6 and a reading nook with a bookcase containing a selection of books, games, DVDs, and information on local attractions. The fully equipped, modern kitchen has an electric oven plus gas hob, integrated microwave, integrated fridge/freezer, and integrated dishwasher plus empty cupboards for guests' own use. The main bedroom has a double bed and an ensuite bathroom with bath (with shower over) and a separate shower; the other has two single beds. The main bedroom has venetian blinds and both bedrooms have blackout curtains. There is a second shower room and both bathrooms are stocked with toilet roll & hand soap. The spacious utility room contains a washing machine and tumble dryer plus a further under counter freezer. An iron, ironing board and clothes' airer are also available for use. The bungalow has Wi-Fi and gas central heating controllable by the occupants. There is a lawned front garden and a large patio wrapping around two sides for sole use of the guests. Off-road parking is available on site for at least 2 cars. Gas, electricity, 100% cotton bed linen and towels are included. No visiting pets allowed due to livestock but our friendly cats are very likely to pay you a visit! Guests will have full access to the entire property with full use of the property’s front garden. Owner available throughout stay if required but we will not interrupt your stay. We sit on the edge of the Cotswolds just south of Gloucester with close access to the M5 and all the beauty that the lovely Cotswolds has to offer. We are an ideal choice for touring and exploring this beautiful and historically fascinating corner of Gloucestershire and its wonderful towns and cities, along with the picturesque Cotswold Way with its walking and cycling trails accompanied by delightful scenery. The property forms an excellent base to explore the SW of England and all it has to offer. It is ideal for walkers, cyclists, families, tourists, couples, wedding guests or a group of friends. Golfers can enjoy the local courses at Tetbury and Wotton-under-Edge. 16 miles of coarse fishing is available on the Gloucester to Sharpness Canal within three miles and the Forest of Dean eight miles away For horse lovers we are close to Cheltenham Races and Badminton, Gatcombe and Hartpury are within easy travelling distance. Attractions include: Slimbridge Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust, made up of 120 acres of reserve, is a wonderful family day out. For history lovers the Welsh castles at Chepstow, Raglan and Caerphilly are within easy reach. Berkeley is nearby with its 11th century Norman castle, and the fascinating Dr Jenner's House, Museum and Garden. Take a trip on the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway - a volunteer operated heritage railway in Gloucestershire and Worcestershire. Make your way to Cirencester, steeped in Roman history including the fabulous Corinium museum, which is widely considered the capital of the Cotswolds. Visit Dyrham Park - a baroque country house in an ancient deer park near Bath. The Arboretum at Westonbirt is close to the thriving market town of Tetbury Spend a day in the picturesque market town of Stroud, which abounds in charming architecture and a fine range of first-class amenities, browse the eclectic mix of shops selling everything from fossils to fairies and vintage to vinyl, or visit the thriving Saturday farmers' market. Cattle Country Adventure Farm Park near Berkeley is perfect for a fun-filled family day. Watch the tidal bore on the Severn Estuary, another haven for wildlife. Why not visit the Fairtrade town of Nailsworth and Forest Green Rovers, the world’s only vegan football club. Wander among the stones at Avebury stone circles and henge World Heritage Site with it's outstanding Neolithic and Bronze Age landscape. For a welcome change of pace, the waterfront cities of Gloucester and Bristol are within easy touring distance and make for memorable day trips. The spectacular city of Gloucester is more than worth the trip with its striking architecture, and beautiful Gloucester docks and quays, and historic Catherdral. The major attractions of Bath, Cheltenham, Cardiff, Malvern and the Forest of Dean are all less than an hour’s drive and the property is minutes from direct train links to Gloucester, Cheltenham and Bristol; Bath is 45 minutes and London just 2 hours away. Close to junction 13 of the M5. Cam & Dursley and Stonehouse railway stations are close by, offering easy rail access to Bristol, London and the beautiful spa towns of Cheltenham and Bath. Buses run to Stroud, Gloucester and Dursley from 2 mins away. Close to Sustrans route 41. Inside the property there will be an information pack including full range of nearby visitor attractions, local walks, nearby villages with shops, pubs & places to eat out. The pack will also include instructions for appliances, heating & useful contact numbers. We love to recycle where possible & all the different bins are explained in the pack. Pub, 2 mins walk away, serves food 9am-9pm. Please arrive no later than 9pm unless it's been previously arranged. This is a strictly no smoking house. No children under 5 without prior arrangement (as we have livestock). Minimum stay in the school holidays is 7 days but outside those dates we can be flexible so please contact us to discuss your requirements. There is livestock in the fields adjoining the property, please do not feed them or go into their paddocks as some of them have special medical diets. We can provide discretionary transport to and from Cam & Dursley train station where time permits – please contact us. The bungalow is not suitable for pet allergy sufferers as we have had cats in there.
