Bockton Cottage is Located in a pretty, peaceful hamlet deep in Hardy's country. The cottage is comfortable yet spacious, with two reception rooms, a kitchen diner, four bedrooms and large private garden. A stone's throw from Hardy's cottage and plenty of walking/cycle tails from the door. There plenty of restaurants/pubs in easy reach and dozens of activities to keep the whole family happy. Two miles from the historic county town of Dorchester and just 20 minutes drive from Weymouth beach. This grade ll listed cottage in the quaint hamlet with easy access to the A35 is surrounded by lush green countryside, yet has all the modern technology which you would hope for. With a TV in both of the two reception rooms offering Netflix and Amazon and an Alexa in every room of the house with unlimited Amazon music on all. A minute's walk from the school which Thomas Hardy attended and less than a mile from Hardy's Cottage in the woods. Local activities and day trips to suit all ages are plentiful with museums, castles, water sports and trips to Weymouth and the spectacular beauty of Lulworth Cove and the Jurassic coast. As local hosts we would be very happy to share our extensive local knowledge with you. The cottage has been decorated to a high standard in keeping with the era. The country kitchen has a dining table which seats up to 8 guests. The Rayburn provides heat and extra cooking space in the cooler months whilst the full sized conventional oven can be used throughout the year. Alternatively the large garden lends itself to fantastic barbecues on balmy evening with stunning views across the surrounding countryside. A trampoline on the lowest tier of the garden will appeal to younger guests! With three double and one single bedroom, it offers comfortable accommodation for up to 7 guests. The master bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with a large walk-in power shower. An additional double room has a small double bed and chest of drawers with lovely views across fields. The final double room looks over the garden whilst the single bedroom has views to the front across rolling countryside. Downstairs there is a spacious front room with log burning stove, large 4 seater sofa and snuggle chair. The snug offers an alternative seating area with patio doors which lead out to the garden. Just a short walk from Thomas Hardy's cottage in the lovely Thornecombe Woods, it's the perfect place to explore, relax and unwind. Plenty of attractions can be reached in a short car ride, including Abbotsbury Swannery and Sub-Tropical Garden, Corfe Castle, Lulworth Cove, Farmer Palmers for younger guests and much much more! For those of you looking for adventure, there's plenty of local activities to book including coasteering, paddle board/canoe/boat hire, paintballing, horse riding, climbing, fun at Dorset Water Park and plenty of local bike trails. The Corn Exchange often put on art's shows and there is often open air theatre and live music throughout the summer in various locations. There is an excellent fine dining restaurant a short walk away with great reviews (Yalbury Cottage) and a fantastic, family friendly country pub 15 minutes walk away offering excellent food, daily (The Wise Man). Dorset's county town of Dorchester is less than 2 miles away with local amenities including 5 different supermarkets, numerous restaurants bars and pubs and a Wednesday market throughout the year. There are two train stations in Dorchester with links to London and further west. It is possible to walk to Bockton Cottage from Dorchester (about 30 minutes or 40 from the train station). Cabs to and from Dorchester are about £8. Although there's plenty of places to walk and cycle from the doorstep, your own transportation would be recommended in order to access local attractions for longer stays.
