Opossum Bay Beach House

Perfect for couples or families, Opossum Bay Beach House is your ideal location to enjoy all that absolute beachfront living has to offer. Stroll directly from the large deck down to the beach to swim, play, walk and relax the days away. Opossum Bay is one of Tasmania's family holiday hot spots that features a safe, sheltered beach, stunning uninterrupted views of Mount Wellington and the River Derwent, and is only a 40 minute drive from Hobart city. Welcome to our little slice of paradise! The beach house has four bedrooms (two upstairs, two downstairs), features an open plan kitchen/living area, a large deck overlooking the beach and a second, sheltered outdoor entertaining area (complete with BBQ). The living area leads out onto the deck to make the most of indoor/outdoor living. Three of the four bedrooms have uninterrupted water views. The kitchen has everything you need for a comfortable, self contained stay. Enjoy cooking up a storm with local Tasmanian produce from the Hill Street Grocer or TCM, both of which are conveniently located in Lauderdale - a short 15 minute drive away. The local Opossum Bay Store is a few minutes walk from the house, where you can get basic supplies, petrol, and the all important takeaway fish and chips! There are plenty of board games and beach toys (including beach cricket gear) for the kids and adults to enjoy. There are some great places to explore if you’re up for a walk. Follow the tracks to South Arm or head the other way and explore the headland and beaches. You’ll be set no matter what the weather does! Guests have full use of the house during their stay. We are available if needed, but leave our guests in privacy to enjoy their stay. Opossum Bay is a 5 minute drive from South Arm, where you can find more good beaches, local convenience shops, an RSL (that is open to non-members and has great meals and take-away), a 9 hole golf course (enquire at RSL), and Tennis Courts available for hire (enquire at South Arm General Store). There are good surf spots located between South Arm and Cremorne. Lauderdale is a 15 minute drive away and has a bigger selection of shops, cafes and restaurants and features the renown Tasmanian Hill Street Grocer and TCM Grocer where you can buy fresh Tasmanian produce and convenience items. Opossum Bay is a convenient 40 minute drive from Hobart city. There is a regular bus service that connects Opossum Bay with Hobart city but we recommend having a car if you want to easily access the local area and pick up supplies. There are good walking tracks (and for bikes if you bring them) in both directions of the beach house. We provide fresh linen and towels (including a few beach towels). Check-in is after 2pm and check-out by 11am. If you require earlier check-in or a later check-out please let us know and we will endeavour to accommodate your request.
