The farm is primarily a biodiversity restoration and conservation initiative run by my family. A perfect hide-out for the traveler who wants to experience nature in her raw beauty, our farm is tucked away from the main Vagamon town and has many secrets to offer for the plant lover, the foodie and the adventurer. The farm-stay is located on a hillside and has 3 levels. You should be prepared to do a fair bit of walking up and down slopes. We live on the middle level and the common dining area is next to us. Camping grounds are at the upper level and the farmhouse(rooms) is at the lower level. The farm features a four room home stay, camping spaces, semi-outdoor wooden deck as a creative/ Yoga space, a spring pool (June-Nov) and many trails around. During your stay, we would like you to feel comfortable. We hope you appreciate that food is home cooked and there is access to all our patio and terrace spaces, the vegetable and ornamental gardens. Call us in case you need anything and we will try our best to help. Vagamon situated on the border of Idukki district amidst rolling hills and tea plantations, falls in the Western Ghats or Sahyadri mountain ranges, a 'UNESCO ' World Heritage site and is one of the biodiversity hotpots of the world. In Vagamon the dominant landscape is grasslands, Shola forests and tea. A quick hike up neighbouring hills provide breathtaking sunrise/sunset views. Kurisumala Ashram (a Monastery in Syro-Malankara Catholic Church) in the immediate neighbourhood is a highlight of historical and social significance. The foot hills on the lower side of Vagamon extend up to Teekoy town. To the north east is Munnar(120km) and a shorter drive down south east will get you to Periyar Tiger Reserve(65km). Kerala State Road Transportation (KSRTC) buses ply every 1-2 hours [6 AM to 7 PM] from the nearby towns (Kottayam, Pala, Thodupuzha, Erattupetta, Kattappana, Elappara) to Vagamon. Distances Vagamon town - 3kms Railway Station Kottayam(KTYM) - 65kms Railway Station Ernakulam(ERS) - 110kms Cochin International Airport(COK) - 110kms Thekkady - 65kms Kumarakom - 80kms Munnar - 120kms Fort Kochi - 115kms Aleppy - 100 kms Varkala - 160 kms Kovalam - 210 kms Weather in Vagamon is unpredictable, particularly in the monsoon months (June to Nov), with that sudden downpour and lashing winds. Be prepared with your rain gear and comfortable footwear at all times. Also carry a torch for the unexpected late evening trails. You are welcome to join the activities on the farm. We recommend you wear covered walking shoes when you are out in the farm. Stick to the trails and foot tracks. Avoid walking over dry leaf heaps and through overgrown areas - snakes have occasionally been spotted here.
