Glan Rhyd is a country cottage idyll, centrally situated with easy access to all Anglesey. Secluded with own meadow, peace and tranquility, it’s ideal in these odd times. being sanitised & offering social distancing second to none. The cottage is semi-detached with own entrance, parking and facilities including modern en suite bathroom, shower & Sky TV/Sports. Owner lives next door & uses some storage. Pets not allowed except exceptional circumstances - if in doubt contact owner BEFORE booking This classic Victorian Welsh Cottage has been extensively refurbished to offer guests a comfortable yet traditional experience. The cottage is centrally heated but you can also enjoy real flames from the log-burner.The new kitchen includes a combi-boiler for instant hot water, dishwasher, gas hob, electric oven and microwave. whilst the tiled bathroom has been newly modernised to include a dedicated shower-bath. The semi-detached cottage for rental is essentially a completely separate, discrete property. Although some kitchen cupboards are used for storage by the owner, they will only be accessed by him when the the property is unoccupied. There are plenty of empty cupboards for guests ! The heating / hot water boiler is situated in the rented semi-detached cottage but controls the whole of the wider property. The hot water stays on constantly. The heating is controlled by a "hive" remote control unit and its use can be mutually agreed on arrival. The owner is happy to delegate its use to considerate guests. The owner lives next door to the property. He is available if needed but will leave guests to enjoy the peace of the cottage uninterrupted if that is their wish. Steve is a retired head-teacher but is passionate about wildlife. He has written and illustrated a number of bird and animal books. Indeed, the meadow is being developed as a wildflower area, with bird feeders and nest-boxes, owl and bat boxes, bee hotels and hedgehog refuges dotted around the site. He is happy to arrange on-site night-time moth-trapping sessions by request, or guide guests on local wildlife tours by arrangement. The cottage is situated on the narrow lane which culminates at the eastern end of Llyn Alaw, the largest reservoir on Anglesey. The water can be accessed at this point, and the Afon Alaw flows around the cottage's wildflower boundary. The local village of Llanerchymedd is about a mile away. It boasts a well-stocked McColl's which serves also as a post office and newsagent. There is a fine cafe at the disused village Railway Station, a fish and chip shop open in the evenings, and a pub. It isn't really the place to be without a car! Although the village can be reached by a brisk ten minute walk, public transport isn't the best. There are good walks from the front door, though, and of course many, many more around the island. The owner has maps and guidebooks available if required. If you fancy looking at stars like you've never seen them in a black , black sky unmitigated by the glow from artificial street and urban lighting, then wish for a clear night here at Glan Rhyd. The owner has a telescope you may use by arrangement to wonder at the cosmos whilst winding down in this tranquil setting.
