La Porcherie

We would describe this property as family friendly, yet also ideal for a romantic getaway, super comfortable, welcoming and a real escape from everyday life! Located on the edge of the beautiful french village of Payzac in the Dordogne, there are a few shops/cafes/boulangerie within walking distance (10 minutes), but far enough away that the property is as quiet as a whisper! La Porcherie is a recently converted piggery, refurbished in a traditional style with quirky feature pieces such as a strong handmade front door! Internally the property has a warm heart, it is authentic to its exterior and filled with hints of a clean rural french style throughout. The ground floor is open plan, with a large dining area, well equipped kitchen and cozy sitting area with large log burning stove. The room is filled with light with windows on every wall, all with country views of serene peace and quiet and doors opening directly onto your own private terrace. La Porcherie is making efforts to be as enviromentally friendly as possible, recycling is in use, there is a compost bin and eco-friendly cleaning products are used as well as organic linens and organic wines are provide as a welcome gift. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, the main bedroom has a large queen-size bed and windows looking out with uninterupted views of the surrounding countryside. The second bedroom has two single beds and skylights, a really cozy and exciting room for children to enjoy. Upstairs you will also find the well equipped bathroom, as with the rest of the house nicely presented in a modern style and includes a large walk in shower. All linen and towels are provided for the amount of guests you request for. The house is clean and tidy and is set up for year round living, it's not just a holiday home. The gardens have been planted out last year and the expansive lawn is great for the kids to run about or a fun game of badminton. Quite important to note that the house next door is also available for rent, see our listing called La Maison Bleu (sleeps 8). So if you would like your family or friends to join you this would be the perfect place. This being said, the properties are located within a large enough area that you do not feel overlooked by one another and you have your own separate driveway. Both properties are within a 10 minutes drive to Chateau Durantie in Lanouaille, which is a popular wedding venue. There are superb cycling routes to explore from the doorstep, there is a golf course nearby, swimming and plenty of sightseeing! We provide bikes at the property free of charge, and are shared between each house so they come on a first come first served basis. There are also two paddling pools, lawn games and two BBQ's. The house is fully self contained and has a large garden with a big lawn and beautiful views. There is a large oak pergola with an outdoor table and chairs for dining alfresco. A washing line, children's paddling pool, bikes and children's toys and games. The property manager lives in a nearby village and is available to help with any issues. This property is very unique in that it is very quiet, there is no through traffic and you the property itself is in fantastic condition. There is no public transport, you will need a car to get to and from the property. Once there you can easily walk into the village or ride a bike. The house is not suitable for people with disabilities as the access into the house is a gravel path, and the bathroom is situated upstairs. The house does not accommodate pets because the garden is not fenced.
