Lodge 47, Tigh Na Sonas is one of our beautiful Scandinavian wood lodges where you can enjoy Galloway's famous dark skies and abundant wildlife from the comfort of your own balcony, whilst also being located close to the picturesque beach at Sandyhills on the Solway Coast in Dumfries and Galloway. All of our Barend Holiday Lodges guests can enjoy our indoor heated swimming pool and sauna, as well as a free 9-hole round of golf at our great local par 3 Craigieknowes golf course. This delightfully named lodge means "House of Happiness" in Gaelic. Such a name is well deserved; with a view over Barend Holiday Village's loch and recent upgrades, this is a house to be happy in. Tigh Na Sonas has been thoughtfully decorated with many homely touches. Combined with loch views and free Sky TV, this makes it a popular lodge for families and groups alike. Lodge 47 in more detail… GROUND FLOOR Living & Dining Area The large and comfortable living and dining area is fully equipped for 8 people with a dining table and sofas, Sky TV (available at a cost) and DVD player. Kitchen A well-equipped kitchen with a gas hob and electric oven, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, microwave, kettle and toaster. A full range of cooking utensils, crockery, glassware and cutlery is provided. For special occasions, high quality Denby crockery and glassware are available from Reception on request. Double Bedroom One of the two double bedrooms is on the ground floor. Bathroom With electric shower over the bath. Balcony A large balcony with furniture is accessed through doors in the living area and gives a view of the loch and forest. FIRST FLOOR Double Bedroom A double bed with ensuite shower, toilet and wash basin. This bedroom is accessed via the third bedroom. Third Bedroom A large room with 4 single beds and patio doors leading to the balcony giving views of Dalbeattie Forest and Barend Loch. OUTSIDE There is parking for two vehicles directly outside the lodge. All are set in stunning surroundings making for a wonderful relaxing or active holiday. The beach is a 5-10 minute walk away. The Solway Coast is a beautiful coastline, with quaint villages, quiet beaches, and excellent opportunities for cycling, walking and golf. There are numerous museums and activities for children within a short drive. Barend Holiday Lodges are around 500m away from the nearest bus stop (the 372 runs from Dumfries to Dalbeattie a few times a day). The nearest train station is in Dumfries. Parking for 2 cars is available directly outside the lodge.
