Three bedroom house in a village. The house is spacious, clean and airy. One bedroom is in the first floor and the other two are in the ground floor. One bedroom has attached toilet. The home is located in a plantation with rotational plantations like ginger, tapioca, yam, etc along with pepper and coffee in a village called Kaniyambetta, 12 kilometers away from Kalpetta, the district head quarters. We provide pure vegetarian food cooked with care and served with love. The property is just one kilometer off the main road from Kozhikode to Mananthavady. The same road is used as Kozhikode Bangalore main road during night time due to the night traffic ban in wildlife national park areas. All the common areas, corridor, walkways and plantation I am living in the main house which is just close to this listing and available as and when needed. There will be one of our family member available in the property to help you with your requirement throughout your stay. We assure you a pleasant and ever cherishable holiday here Wayanad District is a bio-diverse region spread across 2,132 square km on the lofty Western Ghats, Wayanad is one of the few districts in Kerala that has been able to retain its pristine nature. Hidden away in the hills of this land are some of the oldest tribes, as yet untouched by civilization. And the very first prehistoric engravings in Kerala discovered in the foothills of Edakkal and around Ambukuthimala bear testimony to a pre-historic culture dating back to the Mesolithic Age. Strikingly scenic, it is known for its sub-tropical savannahs, picturesque hill stations, sprawling spice plantations, luxuriant forests and rich cultural traditions. A holistic confluence of wilderness, history and culture, Wayanad is located on the southern tip of the magnificent Deccan plateau. We have attempted to focus on cleanliness and hygiene without compromise on reasonable physical comfort to rest, relax and enjoy the silence. We hope that you will reciprocate the same while staying there. As for the food, it is our intention to provide you a tasty palette. It is best if guests have their own vehicles. Alternatively, taxis maybe arranged and there are plenty of buses and auto-rickshaws as well, to get around Wayanad. Nearby tourist attractions include but not limited to the following: • Krishnagiri Cricket Stadium: A cricket stadium in Krishnagiri which holds up to 20,000 people, it is the highest-altitude stadium used exclusively for cricket. It is adjacent to Meenangadi town. • Kolagapara Rocks: Located right beside the property, these rocks are ideal for rock climbing enthusiasts with the top of the rocks providing a bird’s eye view of Wayanad. • Chembra Peak: The highest peak in Wayanad at 2100 meters above sea level, distance of 29 kilometers from our place. • Edakkal Caves: Natural caves with pictorial writings believed to be dating back to 6000 BC, distance of 30 kilometers from our place. • Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary: Second largest wildlife sanctuary in Kerala, home to large wild animals such as Indian Bison, Elephant, Deer and Tiger, distance of 41 kilometers from our place. • Pookode Lake: Scenic freshwater lake from which River Kabani originates, 26 kilometers from our place. • Karapuzha Dam: One of the biggest earth dams in India, 20 kilometers from our place. • Kuruva Island: Protected river delta on the Kabini River home to rare kinds of flora and fauna, accessible using rafts or fiber boats run by Kerala Tourism Department, 27 kilometers from our place. • Lakkidi: One of the highest locations in Wayanad, 30 kilometers from our place. Lakkidi is the gateway of Wayanad from Calicut via 17 kms long ghat road with nine hairpin bends amidst thick forests. • Pakshipathalam: Pakshipathalam in the Brahmagiri hills at Thirunelli, 55 kilometers from our place, is a challenging tourist spot to be covered through wild forest interspersed with deep rock caves. Special permission to be obtained from Forest Department to go to Pakshipathalam. • Sentinel Rock Waterfalls: This waterfall along with trekking and rock climbing facilities is at Vellarimala village near Chooralmala in Meppadi panchayath, 38 kilometers from our place. • Kanthanpara Waterfalls: Waterfalls located 29 kilometers from our place. •Banasura Sagar Dam: The largest earth dam in India and the second largest in Asia, located 36 kilometers from our place. • Thirunelli Temple: An ancient temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu on the side of Brahmagiri hill located 56 kilometers from our place. • Kozhikode: 75 kilometers away, visit the Beypore ship building yard to see how trading ships are constructed, drop in at a Kalari school where traditional Kerala martial arts are taught and shop at the bustling market place, the sweet meat street and Mananchira Square. The Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary located on the river islands is great for bird watching. • Bekal Fort: The fort in Kasargod which is 185 kilometers away is a well-kept historical treasure of Kerala located on the sea front, with the sole purpose of protecting Bekal against enemies in the past. • Kannur: Hop into Kannur district which is 114 kilometers away to visit the popular Snake Park, a whole host of historically significant monuments and witness the colorful Theyyam performances in popular temples dotted around the district. Always carry a valid identity proof with you and present it when requested. There are many places in Wayanad that can provide you a break from the maddening crowds and make you feel an oneness with the infinities of nature – its woods and animals. A ride in Wayanad will always help you encounter at least a wild elephant or deer, if not an Indian Gaur (Bison) or a tiger !! Climate The rainy seasons are the best time to visit Wayanad if you want to see the forests, hills and vegetation at their best. Imagine yourself warming up with a hot cup of brew, looking out at the rains and accompanying mists!! Alternatively the summer months of March-May are better suited for outdoor activities and wildlife safaris. Animal sightings tend to be better in summer owing to many animals migrating to the forests of Wayanad from other reserves, in search of better water resources and prey. Fauna and Flora Wayanad’s forests are rich in plant and animal diversity, and play a crucial role in the conservation of several rare species some of which include but not limited to the Lion tailed Macaque, the Royal Bengal Tiger and Elephants. People Even though Wayanad is the least populated district in Kerala, it has the highest tribal population. Some of the tribes still speak their own languages. The tribes are experts at extracting valuable forest resources, and their weapons, art forms and handicrafts are major attractions for tourists. Their ethnic food recipes, like dishes made from forest leaves, bamboo and paddy crabs, are some of the specialties here.
