Comfortable Apartment onFamily Organic Apple Farm.

Away from it all, yet only a 10 min drive into the Medieval city of Kilkenny, Highbank Farm is a 52 acre organic Apple farm. There are plenty of walks through the apple Orchards, Christmas trees and around the lakes on the farm. The apartment was the old stables on the family farm and has been lovely converted to create a space which has a beautiful homely atmosphere with a modern twist that you feel the moment you step inside. The apartment offers two bedrooms, (a double and a twin room) which comfortably sleeps 4 people, a bathroom with a wet room shower, a large open plan kitchen with all mod cons, (electric oven & hob, microwave, dish-washing machine, fridge/freezer etc.) A cosy open sitting room is beside the kitchen where you can curl up with a book or watch a DVD from our Library. There is also a 2nd hidden toilet behind one of the library shelves! The front door is just off of the Kitchen and opens out onto the courtyard of the farm. A wall of Bamboo is planted to ensure privacy in your home away from home. The farm itself is a working Organic farm which sells many apple products including our award winning Apple Syrup, Apple Juice, Ciders and Distillery, (the smallest distillery in Ireland) we also have Apple Schnapps, Spirit,Liqueur and Pink Flamingo and Crystal Gin! We are happy to arrange a tour of the Distillery or you are welcome take a wander into our farm shop. There are also many walks around the farm through the apple orchards where you may bump into some wild rabbits, foxes, and plenty of wildlife or our horses! We do have internet access, however, due to the rural location it may not be as quick as you may be used to in main cities and towns. We live on the farm in our family home which is part of the farm yard. If you are having any trouble do let us know and we are happy to help. We also speak some French and Spanish if required. Kilkenny City is a medieval city and is home to Ireland's crafts industries and many famous festivals including Rhythm and Roots Weekend, (May Bank Holiday), The Cat Laugh Comedy Festival, (June Bank Holiday), Thomastown Traditional Irish Music weekend (August Bank Holiday) Kilkenny Arts Festival (August) Kilkenomics - the world's first festival of economics and comedy (5th - 9th of November) and Subtitle Film Festival (23rd - 29th of Nov). Some of Ireland's finest studio workshops are located in Kilkenny. The Craft Trail is perhaps the best way to sample each artist, which are easily found in Kilkenny City, Bennettsbridge, Thomastown and Inistioge. We have information leaflets available at Highbank Orchards. Kilkenny is also famous for it's artisan food. The best way to experience this is to follow the food trail where you can visit award winning chocolatiers, cheese makers, trout farms and of course ourselves! We have leaflets available one the Kilkenny food trail at Highbank Orchards. We have plenty of parking on the farm. We are Only 10 mins outside Kilkenny City. We do recommend having a car as many of the local sites and attractions around us and in Kilkenny are much easier to get to by car. The orchards are free to wander for our guests with a map of the farm available but we also offer a booked Taste and Tour by tractor train through the orchard and visiting the distillery at €25 per head.
