Domaine de Belcastel

Comfortable and elegant country house situated in peaceful environment. Beautiful views. With large garden and pool. Near the Corbières and only 30 min from Carcassonne. The Domain of Belcastel is in the well known wine-growing Corbières region of southern France. The old farmhouse - which consists of our home and the self contained gite - are surrounded by 120 hectares of land, mostly given over to sheep grazing pastures and woodland. We have about hundred sheep and their lambs, scottish cows and their calves, as well as a donkey and chickens. At home, we have a dog (Elton) and a cat (Chaussette), they're both very sweet. The house is situated on the side of a hill with beautiful views over the valley. This is excellent walking country, for example the ruins of an ancient castle are a ten minute walk away, whilst a quarter of an hour’s walk brings you to a hilltop with the towns of Carcassonne and Limoux at your feet! The Domain whilst being off the beaten track is only 15 minutes drive away from the small but lovely town of Limoux and half an hour from the spectacular city of Carcassonne. Both the mountains and the Mediterranean are one hour distant. The self-catering is a house of 200 m² which can accommodate up to 10 guests. At the entrance of the house courtyard full of owers welcomes you. At the back, there is a garden of roses, aromatic plants and hortensias, as well as a swimming-pool (diameter: 4 m ; depth: 1.2 m). At sundown, you can enjoy a beautiful sunset. The groundfloor is composed by a big kitchen fully equiped, a living-room with a cosy fire place, a scullery, a linen room, a toilet and a library that can be used as an additional bedroom (double bed - 140cm). On the first floor: - a large master bedroom with a double bed (140cm), an adjoining bathroom, a dressing-room, a fire place and a covered terrace, - three other bedrooms: two of with double beds (140cm and 120cm on a mezzanine) and one with two single beds, - a bathroom (shower and bath) and a toilet. The gite is fully equiped (washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, TV with DVD player, CD player, baby bed, high chair and WIFI connection). The linen is provided (sheets and towels). The Domain of Belcastel is situated in the so called "Pays Cathare", on the edge of the Corbières, only one hour away from both the mediterranean sea and the Pyrenees. The region is known for it's good wines and heritage. By car: when exiting the Motorway A61 at exit n°23 "Carcassonne Ouest", head towards Limoux on the D118, then follow the direction of Saint Polycarpe on the D129 and turn right on the D429 untill you reach Belcastel.
