South Golden Beach is a tropical coastal town in the Byron Shire of New South Wales, Australia. It is off the Pacific Highway, close to Byron Bay, Ocean Shores, Billinudgel and the Queensland border. To the north of South Golden Beach is Pottsville and Brunswick Heads is to the south. You're only 5 mins drive from Ocean Shores Shopping Centre, which has a range of shops including a couple of bottle shops, Coles, Kmart, bakery, and chemist. There's also the Ocean Shores Tavern located in this shopping village (which has a pool table). There is a cafe across the road called Mrs Birdy which sells coffee, meals, and some groceries for your convenience. There's also the New Brighton Post Office, that’s only 3 minutes drive away, which sells alcohol and groceries. But, if you’re buying alcohol, you’re probably better off going to the BWS in Brunswick Heads, as their prices are much better. Next to this post office is Yum Yum Tree Cafe, which sells delicious food/juices and is open from 6:30am - 3:30pm every day. Local markets: New Brighton Markets on Tuesdays from 8am-11am, Byron Bay Farmers Market on Thursdays from 7am-11am, and Mullumbimby Farmers Markets on Fridays from 7am-11am. The produce is seriously amazing as this region is noted as a food bowl! More info about local events and attractions can be found by searching "South Golden Beach Highlights and Essential Things To Do". You're a short drive to Byron Bay, Brunswick Heads and Mullumbimby. South Golden Beach is very close to major festivals Splendour in the Grass, Falls Festival and Bluesfest. There is a public bus service 50m away across from the local Cafe/Shop - Mrs Birdy. The Gold Coast Airport is located only 30 minutes away. Taxis are available in the area (though watch out for the charges going between towns - ask for the costs prior to the trip) and Uber is now operating in Byron. Airport transport companies also operate in the area. We have information on how to use the appliances available for access during your stay. There are flyscreens all throughout the house. Air conditioning is installed in the main bedroom and the rumpus room.
