Deep in the mountains of northern Tuscany, yet just over an hour away from Pisa's international airport, Casa Ruscello offers a blend of ancient charm and modern convenience for those looking for both tranquility and easy access to a host of activities and places to explore. Come and look around this beautifully restored 18th century mill-house and cobbler's workshop and discover a special part of beautiful Tuscany full of surprise and ancient magic. We are to be found in the mountains of Lunigiana, a region shared by Tuscany and Liguria and stretching from the Apennine mountains to the Mediterranean Sea. The property is situated in Castello di Comano at the end of a winding country road just a kilometre from the village of Comano and next to an ancient stone pedestrian bridge dating back to the 14th century. The road to the home serves just two properties and so peace and tranquility is assured. Built in 1736, Casa Ruscello ("Brook House") was originally a tannery and shoemaker's workshop. The beautiful stone building under traditional cotto tiles stands on the edge of a small, babbling brook, and the delightful sound of rushing water permeates the home. Also at the bridge is a traditional fontanelle where clean, fresh mountain water can be collected and used by everyone. The building is divided into three completely unique, captivating and self-contained and self-catering suite-apartments. Il Calzolaio (The "Cobbler") has two double bedrooms and is able to sleep four to six people, Casa Amato ("Home of Love") is a romantic single bedroom apartment for two, while Il Ruscello ("The Brook") is also a single bedroom unit with a small garden perched on the banks of the stream. Each apartment has access to its own private terrace, and all the bedrooms have their own bathrooms. Each apartment is completely private, but larger parties can book a combination of units and still be close enough to share and enjoy the facilities offered by the property. All of the suites have good cellphone reception and there is free high speed wi-fi internet throughout the property. There is ample parking immediately outside the property on the road and next to the bridge. Il Calzolaio is the largest of the three suites at Casa Ruscello and offers the following accommodation: Large combined living area on the ground floor with separate areas for kitchen, dining and lounge. The very traditional Italian marble kitchen is fully equipped with an electric oven and gas hob, refrigerator, washing machine and all the normal appliances you will need.
