Be happy, enjoy adventure holidays and relaxing beach-front living with great island scenery and sunset. The guesthouse is new and located right at the marine sanctuary of Maite, San Juan. Enjoy the bounty of the sea just infront of your room. Swim and snorkel for free. We have few snorkeling equipment for our guests. Additional equipment and kayak can be rented from the Marine reserve office next to the guest house. There are two cottages. Each cottage has 2 bedrooms. In total four bedrooms. Each room can be rented separately. Links to these rooms are provided in “THE SPACE” section below. WIFI is free, but signal is not very regular. Each room has comfortable beds, refrigerator, air-conditioning, ceiling fan, toilet, hot shower, and a smart cable TV. The guesthouse is brand new. The rooms are designed for comfort and easy access to the beach and inviting blue sea. Two rooms have a comfortable king-size double bed (75 by 72 inch / 191 by 182 cm), the two other rooms have each two comfortable twin beds (75 by 36 inch / 191 by 91 cm). These twin beds can be easily converted as double beds. Holidays can be more fun when shared with family members or friends. Each room is good for two persons, but additional guests (maximum 1 person) can be accommodated if requested upon booking. The additional guests need a floor mattress at 10 USD/person to be paid on site. Children below 6 years old free of charge if no additional bed. A mini bar is also available in each room in case you feel like munching or cooling off with cold drinks after a great adventure. Of course, what can be more fun also is viewing your videos and pictures of the day on a big screen of the smart TV. Just click on your mobile phone wireless display and have fun. An outside shower also adds up to your island experience. More than the convenience, taking a shower under a moonlit or star-studded sky is definitely a memorable experience. Guest can also use the common kitchen in the staff house. Room service breakfast from loca loco restaurant can be ordered from the room. The smoothie bowl and fresh yoghurt are really something to wake up to except on Mondays ( restaurant is closed). The guesthouse has a live-in care taker, Ricky, ready to assist guests to ensure their convenience. He can facilitate island tourism information, information for shopping needs, eating out, and others. Ricky takes care of cleaning the bedrooms regularly. I am not living in the area, but I visit the guesthouse occasionally. When I'm there, I will be delighted to chat and have a drink with the guests. The guesthouse is located in the municipality of San Juan, the prime tourist area of the island, with many eating places nearby. The most accessible restaurant is the Italian restaurant “Loca Loco” across the street. Baha bar, Infinity Sands and two more Italian restaurants are less than 200 m away. Eating out is very convenient and affordable. We encourage our guests to wander around and sample the various flavours of the island cuisine. The locals are very friendly. Eating in small road-side eateries can be fun too. Cooking is also possible in the common kitchen of the guesthouse. The market is located in the town centre about 1 km away and there are small convenience store nearby. Fresh fish catch of the day can also be purchased from the fishermen nearby as you do your early morning stroll on the beach, just a few meters from the marine sanctuary The town of San Juan is the main tourist destination in the entire island. Famous for its magnificent sunset, it is endowed with white beaches and clear blue seas, the town has many resorts and restaurants operated by locals and foreigners. In recent years, more and more tourists are coming to the island prompting the construction of more resorts and guesthouses. My guesthouse is brand new and located in Barangay Maite, along the circumferential road, just 0.5 Km from the town centre. It is very accessible. It has a privileged location as it is located right at the Maite Marine Sanctuary, perfect for snorkelling and viewing of the famous resident mandarin fish. Guests can rent kayaks and snorkelling gears at very affordable rates from the sanctuary. Less than 2 Km further, is another marine sanctuary. For diving enthusiasts, there are dive shops nearby. Despite being in the prime tourist area, the neighbourhood is quiet and peaceful. Motorbike renting is popular among tourists. The Island is just perfect for biking with its well paved road all around (72 km entire circumferential road), with all major tourist attractions accessible by motorbikes. Guests can easily rent motorbikes in the neighbourhood. There are two entry ports in the island, Larena and Siquijor. Siquijor port is closer, only about 13 km via coastal road or 8.5 km via inland road to the guesthouse. Distance from Larena Port is farther, around 18 km to the guesthouse. From the port, take the Tourist Pedicabs (usually red). A pedicab is a tricycle build around a motor bike. They offer safe and affordable transport to the guesthouse. From Siquijor port to the guesthouse, the current tariff is about 250 pesos (5 USD). The tariff is the standard set up by the Ministry of tourism. The entire trip is around 20 minutes from Siquijor pier (13 km) and can be noisy, but will immediately be dampened by the beautiful scenery of the aquamarine, blue seas along the coastal roads. You should ask the driver to bring you to the Marine Sanctuary in barangay Maite, in San Juan. Our “Casa Juan Del Barrio” is just next to it. Self-drive motorbikes are also available for rental at the port……. very popular among tourists. Just make sure you have a valid driver’s license. The rental rates range from (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) pesos or USD 7-8 per day. Guests can park freely at the guesthouse. To enjoy the marine reserve at it's best, bring swimming shoes and snorkeling equipment. Also check the weather forecast before booking. Motorbike rental is popular, and many bikes available for rent. Don't forget your driver's license.
