The Canberra Hotel is an Art Deco inspired Hotel in Ballarat. Close to Lake Wendouree and City Centre, we offer two apartments, the first the Prime Ministers Suite with King, Queen and Twin. There is a kitchen and living room and two bathrooms. The Second apartment is the Opposition Leaders Suite with Queen and en-suite and tea/Coffee facilities. Down stairs a cafe, Bar and function space are operated. The Canberra Hotel Ballarat - Enjoy the glitz and glamour of the Art Deco period in this newly renovated hotel in Ballarat. With two luxuriously appointed apartments, the Prime Ministers Suite offers - a King bedroom with en-suite, complete with walk in shower. The Queen bedroom and twin share a second bathroom with walk in shower a spacious living room and kitchenette. (Prime Ministers Suite - $200 King, plus $125 per room/couple thereafter per night) The Opposition Leaders Suite offers a spacious Queen sized bed with en-suite and tea/coffee facilities. (Opposition Leaders Suite $180 per night) Decorated to a high standard with quality furnishings and fittings, your stay will be one to remember. High quality and comfortable beds coupled with thick luxurious cotton sheets ensure a great nights sleep. Enjoy fluffy cotton towels after you step out from the rain shower. Wake in the morning and make tea or coffee in your room. The cafe down stairs is open daily, offering old fashioned breakfast, lunch and home made cakes on offer. The cocktail bar is open Friday and Saturday nights from 5pm until 11pm. With the charm of a bygone era, enjoy a Pimm's, Champagne or perhaps a cocktail and soak up the atmosphere . The Canberra Hotel is available for weddings, private parties or special occasions. High tea is served in The Parlour on the first Sunday of each month or by appointment in your apartment. The Canberra Hotel is self check in. Once your booking is confirmed you will receive a code to access the front door and your apartment door, generally the day of your arrival, well before check in at 3pm. The code is simply entered into the digital key pad- easy! If you have any questions or issues during your stay, don't hesitate to contact Malcolm - usually working in the Cafe or bar downstairs! With so much on offer in Ballarat - your interest may take you to the heritage buildings along Lydiard and Sturt Streets. The Ballarat Fine Art Gallery is one of the best in the country. The Mechanics Institute in Sturt Street has a rich history and library to browse. In Lydiard Street South, Her Majesty's Theatre proudly sits and houses performances, plays and is home to the Royal South Street Competitions. 'Her Maj' has a proud history and is Australia's oldest continuously operated theatre. Over the June long weekend, the Mining Exchange in Lydiard Street houses the Ballarat Antique Bazaar. Showcasing the best antique dealers from across Australia, there is something for everyone. Whilst in the city, you can also enjoy coffee, cake, lunch or dinner at any one of the cafe and restaurants. During May, the Plate Up Ballarat Festival is on and showcases a series of events in the city's best eateries. With a convenient location the Canberra Hotel is located 200 metres to the beautiful Lake Wendouree. Take a stroll or run and enjoy this stunning Ballarat icon. On the Western side of Wendouree Parade, you can visit the Ballarat Tramway Museum next to the Botanical Gardens, enjoy a scenic ride on of the old trams of Ballarat. If Gardens attract your interest, be sure to visit the Ballarat Botanical Gardens. With early records dating these stunning trees back to the 1860's. To continue your theme with Canberra, stroll along the Prime Minister's Avenue. The only of its kind, the avenue displays bronze busts of each past Prime Minister. If you visit in March, you will be lucky to enjoy the Begonia Festival and see the beautiful begonias, another one of Ballarats jewels. The gardens are well maintained with various seasonal themes throughout the year. Plants are also on sale with proceeds going to the Friends of the Botanical Gardens Society. The Hotel is located within walking distance of Lake Wendouree (5mins) or the City Centre (10mins). There are plenty of cabs and UBER drivers available to take you anywhere you wish to go.
