Gorgeous 3 bed flat opposite beach
Stunning newly refurbished maisonette situated two minutes (50m) level walk from the beach in beautiful Budleigh Salterton with three bedrooms sleeping five (or up to six on request - please contact to discuss suitability) The flat has two full bathrooms: these and the kitchen have underfloor heating, and the entire flat has central heating from a brand new boiler with very effective radiators. Spacious fully equipped kitchen and beautiful open living area for relaxing, & six at the table. This large three bedroomed apartment has just undergone an extensive refurb, retaining a gorgeous vintage character with touches of luxury throughout. Floors are stripped and polished, bathrooms and kitchen have tiled (Travertine and Italian Porcelain respectively) floors with underfloor heating making the flat cosy at any time. Upstairs is a full double ended bath with separate shower, whilst downstairs is a larger shower...big enough to wash a dog.. and loo, which doubles as utility room with washer / dryer. The bedrooms are generous sized, two doubles and one single (which can become a double at a push) and mattresses and furnishings are excellent quality with bedding and towels provided for your use. The kitchen is equipped not only with a gas hob and electric oven as well as microwave and full sized fridge, but also dishwasher and penty of crockery, pans, utensils - all you need to make this your home from home. In spite of being in the centre of town it is quiet due to double glazing throughout, except the downstairs bathroom/utility which has the original wooden sash windows. The apartment is furnished with a stylish blend of classic vintage gems and modern touches like the venetian blinds, super comfy armchairs and oversize downstairs shower. The high bar between the kitchen and living room makes the place feel sociable and moden, while other 'shabby chic' details keep it homey and interesting. The majority of the refurb where possible has used reclaimed, recycled, and original materials so that flat has a unique and eclectic feel: Imagine 'The Wombles' meet 'Bagpuss'! ('....making good use of the things that we find....'....dum de dum......'we will mend it we will fix it, we will make it like new, new, new..') but feels luxurious and spacious with high celings and wonderful light. On Thursday, early in the morning, pop over the road to the beach to buy amazingly fresh fish from the fisherman at his boat, or if you don't fancy cooking - any night (except Sundays!) try the variety of great local restaurants and takeaways within the town. Dogs are welcome subject to some restrictions - please check. Same applies to children- We didn't design this place with little ones in mind so please do get in touche before confirming your reservation, it may not be suitable for all. Any questions please don't hesitate to ask. There's an inexpensive car park a few dozen (level) yards away, or you could park on one of the many unrestricted roads nearby. Budleigh Town centre in mostly level and with the beach literally over the road you won't need the car unless you go off exploring. My wonderful local caretakers will be on hand to help with any questions if I'm not around personally Budleigh is a delightful Devon seaside town offering a stunning beach, wonderful walks and a thriving town with a variety of boutique shops and restaurants. The flat is situated above a charming and very popular traditional tea shop, 'The Cosy Teapot' so fresh coffee and wonderful cakes are available right downstairs! The beach is immediately opposite the flat -no more than fifty metres away - with fresh fish sold direct from the fisherman avalailable to cook at home if you don't fancy eating out.... Budleigh is a half hour drive from Exeter St David's train station, or just fifteen minutes from Exmouth. There are regular buses to the town which stop on Station Road - perhaps a five or ten minute walk away - although much less frequent in the evening. If coming by car the simplest and cheapest way to sort out parking near the flat is to buy a parking permit for the car park just up the road. This is the only way you can park there inexpensively, although you will need to move the car and return as it's a short stay one. You will be looking to buy a permit for Rolle Mews car park in Budleigh Salterton, for closeness to the flat, or - if you want to be able to leave the car for longer and not worry about moving it, then Lime Kiln is about a ten minute walk along the sea front. It's worth doing this on a computer or tablet as the site is not well optimised for phone size screens and you will need to register in order to buy a parking permit. Start at eastdevon (dot) gov (dot) uk/parking/car-park-permits/purchase-renew-or-apply-for-parking-permits/ There is also plenty of unrestricted parking in the roads around the centre, You can buy a 2, 3, 4 or 7 day permit which will be valid for a load of car parks in the local area. Please note there is a 3 hour maximum stay in short stay car parks. PLEASE NOTE- Consideration needed, in the evenings especially, as this is an old building and not soundproof. The downstairs neighbours will be disturbed by loud conversations and heavy footsteps so please be aware of this when booking. Also - Rubbish and recycling. I'm afraid we have to take a tough stance on this- recycling is colected every week, inclduing food. Landfill however is only every three weeks (!?) which means we MUST insist on you recycling everything possible. Randomly chucking everything in several bin liners over a week will earn you a 'fail'!
