A tastefully furnished cottage equipped to a high standard in the village of Gayle, a quarter of a mile from the popular market town of Hawes, Upper Wensleydale. There's stunning scenery, some of the finest in the Yorkshire Dales. Gayle Beck runs through the village cascading over a series of waterfalls. On hand are lovely walks from the cottage along quiet river banks and across meadows. For the more adventurous follow the Pennine Way which passes through Gayle onto the high fells. Parking is available immediately adjacent to the property, which has a private garden for use by guests only during their stay. Garden furniture is provided. Services included in the rental are: Electricty Central Heating Starter bag of logs and kindling All bed linen and towels are provided We have a housekeeper who lives in the village and we are available by 'phone contact on a 24/7 basis. Gayle is a quiet village, but within a 10 minute walk of local restaurants, pubs, tea-rooms and a good selection of shops in Hawes. The popular Wensleydale Creamery visitor centre is a 5 minute walk from the cottage. Hawes has interesting visitor attractions, including a working rope-maker and the Dales Countryside Museum in addition to the famous creamery. The area is centrally located for visiting all the Yorkshire Dales , The Lake District and the North Yorkshire Moors. Much to appeal to visitors on the doorstep. Walking/cycling in the spectacular hills and dales. There are a multitude of historic, interesting and beautiful places to visit. Traditional cultural events to enjoy. Fine local food and drink, and original Dales arts and crafts. Hawes is home to a well-known livestock market noted for the special lamb sales in the early autumn. The Little White Bus service provides access up and down the Dale between Hawes and Bedale. A service connects with the famous Settle/Carlisle railway line.
