Ethen Thottam - a farm stay experience (bedroom 1)

Situated in the quaint town of Kothamangalam on the way to Munnar from Kochi is our traditionally built Kerala home with clay tiled roofs and wooden ceiling surrounded by a few acres of tropical fruit trees (about 150 varieties). Our farm stay is unique as you will have the opportunity to pet our cows, feed them on request and even watch them being milked. We make our own butter/ghee from the fresh milk of these cows native to Kerala. We also do fish farming and bee keeping in our property. As you relax at home you are most welcome to take a stroll in our garden/nursery adjacent to our property. You will have the opportunity to see many species of trees and plants like the jackfruit, nutmeg, black pepper, mangosteen, bamboos and many more. We serve traditional Syrian Christian home cooked Kerala cuisine(both vegetarian and non-vegetarian). All our dishes are made from fresh home grown coconuts and spices ground in arakallu (grinding stone) to make the perfect paste that makes an authentic Kerala meal. If you wake up early in the morning you will be greeted by the sound of birds. Some of the birds frequently spotted in our property are the Rufus treepie, the Greater racket-tailed drongo, the magpie robin, the red whiskered bulbul and the white-cheeked barbet. We are letting out our two bedrooms upstairs and this listing is for one of them with a balcony and an en-suite bathroom. In addition to the room, you will also have access to a living space upstairs, living and dining space downstairs and the patio overlooking the garden. We want to make sure you have a comfortable and enjoyable stay at our home. We will always be available to answer any of your questions and/or concerns to the best of our ability. We can also help in making arrangements if you would like to make a visit to any of the local areas or tourist attractions. Any special requests like needing a tour guide, vehicle at disposal, special meal plans must be made in advance for better chances to have them available during your stay. All the additional expenses have to be taken care by our guests. The quaint town of Kothamangalam is at the foothills of the Western Ghats mountain ranges. Kothamangalam is known as the Gateway of Highrange. We have historical churches in a 2 km radius notably St.Mary's Church (4th century) and St. Thomas Church (AD 1455) We are only a few hours away from many tourist attractions like Munnar hill station, Aanakulam, an hour away from fort Kochi and 20 minutes away from Bhoothathankeettu dam, the famous Salim Ali bird sanctuary and Kodanad elephant training camp. You can travel by autorickshaws to many of the local areas. Arrangements for taxis can also be made upon request. All the current rates for the same will be made known before proceeding with the bookings.
