"Immersion into nature" at its most literal definition. You'll have your private paradise in nature. Surrounded by waterfalls (2), wild plants, flowers, rocks, birds and even some fish. A soundtrack—the water streaming down from two sides of the property—will follow you into your sleep. Everything is aimed at minimizing distraction from the intrinsic beauty of nature, you'll be in your own bubble, yet a small village market and a bar are conveniently located less than 100mt. (300ft) away. Ideal for honeymooners, nature lovers, romantic getaways, meditators, writers, artists, dreamers and anyone seeking calm, seclusion and inspiration from nature. It was over a century-old watermill with fruit garden owned by a dear friend of mine who at some point had to abandon it because of logistics. While I enjoyed the process, it has taken over ten years to start to bring it back to splendor. The waterstream originally propelling the stones is not active anymore so I have dedicated the building to the leisure of people who would enjoy intimate closeness to nature (original millshop and stones are still there in the basement). Words and pictures can't do justice to the real experience: two waterfalls are centerpieces, a larger one right next to the main bedroom and a taller one right across the bedroom window with direct view—such a glorious sight to wake up to! The rooms are minimally furnished with custom handmade (by me) furniture built from 130+years-old reclaimed wood and no superfluous decoration; the intent again was to keep the focus on nature and its beauty. You are provided all the necessities —and more— to make your stay comfortable without overwhelming the senses. Currently living in chaotic Manhattan, I cherish every moment spent here in the privacy of the property and I hope you will do as much. AL3229 You will enjoy full exclusive access to this property with your own key to everything. There is a gorgeous secluded pathway behind the house overlooking the river, with a spectacular view of wild vegetation and huge trees. You can easily walk down to the waterstream from this side. This is part of the property and you are welcome to enjoy it anytime. You can also access the rocky water canyon in between the waterfalls next to the house; there is no easy entrance though, you will need to be physically strong, agile and somewhat brave—you would have to climb down and up with a rope to get in; quite difficult but worth it. AL3229 I live far away most of the time, either in Italy or USA, regardless, I will closely follow your stay and be available via sms/whtsapp/FaceTime (depending on time zone) and provide a very detailed guide to the property so you can relax knowing everything you need to know will be found in there. A very good friend of mine also operates a larger BnB nearby, she is at walking distance and can provide additional support if it happened to be necessary. This is a great spot to relax and to conveniently support the exploration of the quieter side of the island. It is about one hour drive from the capital city and seven minutes from the main town. While the valley where the property sits feels remote from regular life it is adjacent to two very small villages with small stores, bars, church, school and a square. AL3229 Unless you are up for an entirely secluded experience you will need to have a car to get around. In that case you would be able to safely park it near the main road and then walk down the steep path to the house— just note that there is a short very narrow public access to the parking space and while it fits any car going through can be intimidating to inexperienced drivers. You can access the public transportation system by walking to the village (short but steep road, about 10min going up, 5min coming back) but you can count on a hand the number of bus rides available, mostly during weekdays, more limited on Saturdays. You can get the most basic groceries in the village but to have some choice you will need to get to the town (7min ride). AL3229 Nature can be powerfully strong and fragile at the same time. I expect all my guests to respect not only the house but the surroundings as well. Picking some flower or some pebble from the river is acceptable with measure but nothing more—nothing that you would not want others to do to your own property. One of the aspects of the island I found most appealing is a sense of gentleness of nature. The land can be dramatic with tall waterfalls, rocky cliffs and expansive views of dense woods but the flora and fauna are very benign in general. There are no ticks, no snakes, no dangerous spiders, not even annoying squirrels or raccoons. You might see some wild rabbits but mostly cows everywhere and some horses. Oh, yeah, the ducks... there are a couple of wild ducks (we don't really know if they are actually a couple–speculations from previous guests). If they like you they will poop all over the yard, if the don't, they may poop even more. So I like the idea of being gentle to nature in return by not using any unnecessary detergents, poisonous chemicals or pesticides. That means that while I provide a very clean house, I can't stop some ants from coming to share your breakfast, occasional snails from climbing the bathroom tiles or spiders nesting on the window shutters. Yes, that is the same nature you came to enjoy, so please do it! AL3229
