There are three floors. Your room is in the middle of the house and benefits from being cool in summer and warm in winter. There is a sash window overlooking the front of the house. You may hear the bells ringing from Romsey Abbey. There is easy access to all ground floor rooms. The house is light and bright. The bed has a solid frame with wooden headboard. You have two towels per guest. The ground floor is occupied by the SHARED bathroom, kitchen, lounge/dining area and treatment room. The first floor is occupied by your (guest) double bedroom, and across the passage is a private room occupied by host. On the third floor is a quadruple room ( floor size of both first floor rooms). On the ground floor all areas except treatment room are freely accessed. Host Room is PRIVATE and out of bounds. If you have laundry please place in laundry bag (available upon request) and leave in kitchen for washing. Turnaround is usually same day in Summer depending on weather, or next day in Winter. There is a back garden with lawn and an area of loose stone with seating. Please feel free to utilise the back garden at your leisure. You are welcome to access all ground floor areas except treatment room, which is marked as PRIVATE. Daily access to the property is via the back door leading into the kitchen. When you first arrive, entrance is through the front door on the street side. I will be there to welcome you, check you in and show you around, and make a well needed, if needed, cup of tea or coffee, or refreshment. I usually stay in the background but am very happy to help to make your stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible. I am happy to help with places of interest, things to do where required. And if there is something you need or if you have questions I will assist as best as I can. We are located 5 minutes away from the town centre, but if you walk 5 minutes in the other direction you will be in a beautiful green area with the River Test running through Salmon Leap. With Romsey Abbey, The Plaza Theatre, excellent restaurants, shops, Waitrose, co-op and Aldi close by, on bus routes, with taxi's and trains close by too, and Mottisfont Abbey, Sir Harold Hillier Gardens, Leckford, Stockbridge, Winchester and Salisbury short drives away you have a lot to choose from. There is a Sports complex about 10-15 minutes walk away which has a pool, gym and exercise classes available on a pay as you go service. The huge Mounbatten Grounds are open to the public at various times of the year too. July brings the Mayors Picnic in the grounds of Memorial Park, Beggars Fair with most pubs hosting a range of live bands, street markets, dancing. July is also The Romsey Carnival and The Bed Race, fun for everyone. July is also the Food Festival month with many local towns and cities contributing to gastronomic delights. There is a Winter Carnival, and at Mottisfont just a few miles up the road the opportunity to enjoy the grounds and gardens and visit their well stocked shop, and perhaps see an open air production in the Summer months. Leckford Farms is a delight of fresh produce and a great place for lunch or afternoon tea, but you may be tempted by the inviting pubs along the way! The Isle of Wight has ferry links from the mainland from locations about 20-40 minutes drive away. The beautiful and vast New Forest with its villages, pubs and new forest ponies offers a delight for nature lovers, walkers, drivers, pub visitors, shoppers and more. The train station is a 7-10 minute walk away. The bus and taxi rank approximately 7-10 minutes in the opposite direction. If you have a car, parking across the road, on the street, or free all the time at The Rapids Sports Complex about a 10-15 minute walk away. We can help with cycle hire and this area offers great cycling routes. I'm a qualified British Cycling Team Leader and would be happy to take you on a guided local tour. As previously mentioned many local amenities are within a short walking distance. If your stay is longer than 7 nights your room will be cleaned and your bed linen will be changed every 7 days until you check out. You are welcome to read any books on the bookshelf in the lounge/dining area. All feedback during and after your stay is welcome. You will be given one key, for the back door. Please let us know of any damages or breakages, if any, as soon as possible. Please note this is an old house with natural wear and tear.
