It is by the main highway SS114 and only 4 km to A-18, just 40 km from airport, close to a long coastline of a variety of beaches, to Etna, Taormina, Forza d'Agro, Acireale, Port of Riposto, Gorges of Alcantara, Zafferana, Castle of Calatabiano, Castiglione, Randazzo, Bronte, Sant'Alfio just to mention a few. The apartment is on the second floor of a historic Art Nouveau building constructed way back in 1930 but now completely renovated. CONTE RUGGERO OVERLOOKING THE TOWN boasts of a large terrace ideal for starting off your day with a hearty breakfast or dining alfresco at the end of a long day out or why not, just simply lazing around with a cool drink and your favorite book. As you enter the apartment you see the modern kitchen with a double sink, a wide cooking range with 5 burners, an electric oven and a refrigerator. Adjoining is the living /dining room with a comfortable sofà, a dining table and chairs, a LCD satelliteTV on the wall and most of all there is free WIFI access. The building is a sturdy structure with thick walls and concave ceilings, almost 5 m. high. A spacious master bedroom with modern furnishing with a double bed, night tables and a closet. Across the hallway is an identical room also with a double bed. Our guests may park within the property or right in front in the street. Truly an ideal holiday home rental for couples and families. Our guests will enjoy their privacy in their own apartment and terrace. Both Agostino and I attend to our guests personally. Before their arrival we both see to it that the apartment is in perfect order. We meet them at the apartment regardless of their time of arrival. From the time they land and throughout their sojourn we keep in touch through AIRBNB messages. I make sure they know that they can count on us. We live nearby ready to offer any assistance, above all to assure you a pleasant Sicilian holiday but the same time , we respect our guests' privacy. Mascali is surrounded by many known tourist spots like Mt. Etna, Taormina, the castle of Calatabiano, il Castello degli Schiavi, the gorge of Alcantara, the baroque cities of Acireale, Catania and Siracusa, just to mention a few. This is the perfect base for families, couples or groups visiting Catania, the eastern side of the Sicily, known also as the greener side of the island. Thanks to Mt Etna, fruit trees and orchards are abundant in this fertile land. Lemon and orange plantations and vineyards cover the hillslide down the volcano’s slopes. Car is recommended. The location is ideal for many reasons. It is less than 2 km to the nearest beach 'FONDACHELLO'. Bread shops (panifici), pastry shops (pasticcerie), ice cream parlors (gelaterie), snack bars (tavola calda), supermarkets (supermercati), the bank (le banche), the post office (ufficio postale), the church (la chiesa), pharmacies (le farmacie), the playground (il parco da gioco) and the town square (la piazza) are all within walking distance. Don't miss more nearby attractions like: GIARRE, a nearby town ideal for a shopping spree down Corso Italia and along via Callipoli; CONFORAMA, a commercial center on SS114; other malls of Catania are PORTE di CATANIA, ETNAPOLIS, and CENTRO SICILIA. A great way of visitng the surrounding towns around ETNA would be to take a ride on the FERROVIA CIRCUMETNEA (the 'Railway around the Etna'); RIPOSTO, known for its fresh fish market; go and see the PORTO dell'ETNA where one can go on a boat ride or simply watch the harbor from the panoramic restaurant while enjoying one's delicious Sicilian meal, this is also a great place to try the famous Sicilian sherbet 'granita' for breakfast; visit GURNA, an extraordinary Natural Reserve within the territory of MASCALI and FIUMEFREDDO; the vineyards of SANTA VENERINA, SANT'ALFIO, MILO, LINGUAGLOSSA, excellent wine producing towns; within less than 30 minutes of pleasant driving is IL PICCIOLO, a 18 hole golf course; farther up on ETNA's northern side; a must is PIANA PROVENZANA, from where one can join a S.T.A.R. excursion on a jeep up till the crater. Here you will also find a skiing resort. As for night life, TAORMINA, CASTELMOLA, GIARDINI-NAXOS, ACIREALE and CATANIA are all excellent for fine dining,pubs, bars, night clubs and discotheques.
