Ancient Shepard Cottage with Mountain Views
A beautiful refurbished 120 year old Shepard’s Cottage situated high up with views of Glen Urquhart and Loch Meikle. The cottage is unique in that it benefits from guaranteed peace and tranquillity. It is situated within a private hill side farmers field, with foot access to the cottage from a private parking bay, the parking bay being roadside (100m walk). Situated in the heart of the Highlands. 4 miles from Loch Ness. Horse trekking, boating, hiking, skiing etc. is available nearby. Cnoceitchie cottage eludes 'cosy'. An ancient Shepard's cottage with traditional highland furnishing's like an open coal/wood fireplace and stone walls. Take a few steps out the front door to be greeted by mountain views of Glen Urquhart. The cottage is joined by your own private garden. The cottage itself sits in a privately owned farmers field, therefore you can enjoy absolute peace and quiet. Please know, the cottage is self catered and basic. It has everything one needs - hot water, TV, well equipped kitchen, heating and fireplace etc. - but does not have some amenities which you might expect in other stays like Wifi and Netflix. Please ask me if you have any specific query. Please note: - The second bedroom is up a steep set of stairs (as can be seen in the photos). Anyone with any accessibility problems or reasons as to why climbing and going very steep stairs/ladders might be dangerous, please consider carefully. - The wooden work shed around the back of the cottage is out of bounds to guests. I will be available to talk to guests on the phone and answer any questions 24/7. There will be someone local to tend to any urgent needs of guests. Glen Urquhart, joined by Loch Meikle is one of the most beautiful ranges in Scotland. Cnoceitchie is situated in the heart of it. Loch Ness is 4 miles away - 10 minute drive Glen Affric is close by, another wanderlust glen, full of walks, waterfalls and nature. Highland Horse Trekking is also situated here - please get in touch with me for special discounts on horse riding during your stay. The famous town of Drumnadrochit is a 7 minute drive - where you will find a pub serving fantastic Highland food + essential shopping. A vehicle is a must for getting around - in order to make the most out of your stay. Bus's do run approx. 3 times per day from the bottom of the hill, going in both directions (Inverness - Tomich) Taxi's are available from Inverness Taxi's - although can be expensive when being picked up from balnain.
