Hillsborough tranquility near Duke, UNC, RTP et al

Sweet peaceful space in Hillsborough for work, retreat, locum tenens and other med pros, artists, sabbaticals, residencies, college visits Wonderful old house tucked in hilltop trees, 15-20 minutes from Durham and Chapel Hill, easy zip to interstate for Raleigh or Greensboro in ~45 Walk or drive to parks, Riverwalk on the Eno, restaurants, ice cream, live music, historical sites, bookstore, great coffee spots, galleries, trails Hide, rest, read, study, make music or art in cozy, bright spaces The space is designed to maximize privacy. My apartment is at the back of the house, with its own rear entrance. There is an adjoining locked door in the kitchen, but our spaces are separate and very private (bedrooms are as far apart as they can be, and when I am home/working, I'm really quiet!). The main part of the house is entirely yours: enjoy the front porch and front yard in the shade of tall trees on a quiet corner hill. Your bathroom has TONS of really hot water and fluffy clean towels. By your room is a housekeeping cupboard with extra amenities and useful things. The office/studio is set up for peaceful, productive work, but feel free to move things around as needed for yoga or dancing or meetings. The cozy living room/library invites you to grab a book, a blanket and a spot on the couch! Curl up and put your feet up: here are magazines and books to tell you about where you are on the planet and help you find places nearby to explore. Kitchen is set up for you to make coffee, tea, with great tools, plenty of fridge, freezer and counter space for you to cook. You can bring or grab groceries nearby. Let me know if you want directions, recommendations or connections: I leave people to their own devices, but if you WANT guidance, I'm happy to help! we're unlikely to run into each other unless you want to. Occasionally I will come around the outside to pick up mail or packages from the porch. Though I'm always available by text, our paths will not cross in person unless you want or need them to. Plenty of free and easy parking, directions in the house manual. It's a super-walkable neighborhood, lovely to stroll the quiet streets any time of day, but especially at dawn or dusk, in my opinion. Just a few blocks away is the Eno River, Gold Park and the Riverwalk, a treasure to explore, meandering route to everything downtown, and part of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail! This is my home, but when guests are here, my apartment off the kitchen in the back of the house is completely separate. I'm also gone a lot for work. I give my guests all the privacy they want! Your space and my apartment are very private, our bedrooms literally as far from each other as they can be. I love this area and know it really well, and if you want help finding your way to whatever it is you love doing, just ask! I've been a guest in many kinds of places, and the ones I've liked best were where I had enough information to truly feel at home/comfortable and hosts gave me my space and privacy. That's the host I try to be. And I'm also happy (if I'm in town) if you want to say hello when you arrive, just let me know! This is a peaceful, super-walkable old neighborhood full of families, half a mile to mountain and river trails, blocks from fun neighborhood West End dining, a mile from downtown night-life or day-life. As a county seat, Hillsborough bustles in a quietly celebratory way all the time! Quick drive to Orange County Sportsplex for swimming, fitness classes, ice skating, hockey, basketball and pickle ball Plenty of nearby yoga studios and massage options Several art galleries highlight fantastic local, regional and national artists Really good restaurants, from neighborhood pub or bbq, to James Beard nominees and super-fine culinary experiences all in between, to Salvadoran and several flavors of home-style Mexican, including one by the riverside, surrounded by palms, serving fresh coconuts and homemade tortillas with their yummy picnic-table food! Plenty of parking in the driveway, just please stay to one side so others can turn around easily IMPORTANT: I am fully vaccinated, and require that my guests are as well, and promise and expect that both you and I are following all current safety guidance.
