The Grove Farm Stay.

The Yurt is a 7m diameter Mongolian design durable canvas tent. The design has roots in Mongolian nomadic culture where tents are capable of being deconstructed and reinstated in a new location on the same day whilst also being a comfortable, warm and durable place to live. Our yurt is fully insulated but for added comfort a heat pump/air conditioner has been installed. The Grove is a beautiful place to relax with all your requirements taken care of. Soak in the spa, while enjoying your favourite cheeses and beverages. Experience cooking your own pizza in an old fashioned pizza oven or you may prefer a gas BBQ or cooking over the brazier. The Yurt is beautifully laid out with a king sized bed and bunk beds discreetly hidden behind a screen. All the luxuries can be supplied including Sky TV, a record player and Wifi. Walk through a covered walkway to your kitchen and Shower area. Guests will have full access to the yurt and its facilities. Also they have access to a private walking track which leads from the yurt, through the orchard and down to the beach. The owner lives in the same property. She will meet you on arrival but then leave you to enjoy your stay. Nestled in an established avocado orchard, The Grove Luxury Yurt Accommodation is in the Thornton area a short drive from Whakatane and within an hour of Tauranga and Rotorua. Encompassing over 500 avocado trees and two large duck ponds, the property is home to large numbers of ducks and numerous native birds including kereru (wood pigeon), tui, and piwaiwaka (fantail). A short walk through the orchard will take you to an often deserted white sand beach. Nearby Thornton Beach is a well regarded surf casting hot spot and just five minutes up the road are two famous berry cafes and The Red Barn, a go-to for your daily coffee fix. Guests generally use their own vehicles to get around and explore the surrounding area. We also offer three platters for an additional sum of $100. They are either a cheese platter, an antipasto platter or a celebration platter. All platters come with a bottle of red or white wine, or a six pack of craft beer or a bottle of Daniel Le Brun champagne. We also offer DIY hot breakfast package for $50.
