A period detached cottage recently refurbished to a very high standard retaining its original charm and yet has a contemporary feel. Located in the heart of the village with all its amenities. The tidal slipway to the creek just 100 m away .The cottage is perfect for families , groups of friends up to 6 people or couples looking for a quiet getaway . Newton Ferrers and its twin Noss Mayo are picture perfect village ideal for walking , sailing , swimming ,fishing, sampling local ales and dining The property is approx 200 years oldhas a history as a shop and more recently bistro . The former owner was an architect who utilised the combination of traditional stone and glass to give a very light and atmospheric effect. We purchased the property in Febuary (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) and have completely modernised the property including creating an open plan high end kitchen . Unusual features to the property include a side entrance to a wet room for sailors , boarders ,kids and dogs to wash away sandy feet . Upstairs there is an additional forth room called "the cabin" which has an elevated bunk for additional sleeping capacity over the six quoted ) . This room can be used as a home office and/or clothing store. We are available 24/7 via ph (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) , text and e-mail - (Email hidden by Airbnb) However we have local support to deal with troubleshooting and maintenance issues Newton Ferrers and its twin Noss Mayo is a vibrant community and compares well with its more famous neighbours in South Hams only prettier and quieter. More of a yacht haven. Our guests will have a choice of 3 great pub / restaurants . The dolphin is but 100 yards away and is the most popular with locals . The Swan and Ship are over the creek at Noss which can be crossed at low tide in just 5 minutes ( 30 mins at high tide ) via the tidal pathway called the Voss. We are adjacent to the local pharmacy , butcher ( try thier warm pasties but make sure you get thier early (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) , the community run a post office / general store and Art Gallery ( a commune of local artists and craftsmen ) . Most recently an excellent Deli + Coffee shop as opened up at the the green . Its called " The Green " ! The Yealm estuary is breathtaking with its combination of sea cliffs ,clear water, and dark woods set in deep valleys- there are great long and short walks from your doorstep. The most famous being the revelstoke drive - approx 4 mile walk across the creek and up through estuary to the open sea with views of plymouth sound. The Yealm harbour master manages craft on the estuary and all forms of boating are catered for from sail boards to schooners . Beach lovers and more active water sports will head for mothercombe beach and the Erme estuary ( about 20 mins by car ) or Batham sands and the famous Burgh Island ( 30 mins ) Newton Hill - The cottage is located on a steep Hill . Caution to those to struggle to walk or get easily out of breath . Parking - There are 4 restricted parking spaces opposite ( see photo's ) . Although they are 45 mins wardens are rarely seen - your risk though . There are a further 12 spaces nearby on the Hill or at the small harbour below the property again restricted . There is unrestricted parking on Yealm road that runs for about a quarter of a mile . My strategy is to move the car into the spaces opposite early in the morning to secure parking for the day . Buses - There is a bus service to Plymouth 4 times a day which takes about 1 hour around the villages . Walking there are great routes and I will leave a laminated map . The Yealm ferry service at Warren Point gives access to Wembury and is a call and respond service . Driving .......get used to some very narrow lanes !
