A great spot to unwind after a hectic week in the city, our #ForestNest is cozy and clean, with many nooks. Our old building is quiet at night. It is a 40sqm 3RD FLOOR UNIT in the rainforest 20 mins drive from Subic Bay CBD. 5 mins to Subic airport, waterfalls and beaches. Ideal for couples, adventurers, triathletes, business travellers looking for a quiet weekend and a view. Forest Nest is located next to Ocean Nest. @thenestbythesea is a legitimate, tax paying business. SBMA Permit #1769 We designed this space to be a retreat from hectic city life. There are several nooks to lie back and relax - read a book, write a novel, or conquer the world from your laptop. We're on the 3rd floor of an old, run-down building with no elevator. The open parking lot is located right next to the building. Shaded parking areas can be found a little further away. Walking to the apartment, you will be rewarded with a partial view of the nearby Triboa Bay. Once you get to the unit, you'll find that our unit's view is blocked by the rainforest. It provides us with good shade and keeps the Forest Nest cool on hot afternoons. The Forest Nest is made up of two adjoining rooms. Each room has a door leading to the building's main hallway, and one wall has jalousied windows looking out to the hallway, the forest, and the bay beyond. Each room is equipped with an AC unit and a ceiling fan. In one room is the Dining, Living, and Kitchen area where the Bathroom, TV, and sofabed are located. In the other room is the Bedroom with two beds and a hammock. The Bathroom is designed in such a way that it's possible for two people to make use of it at the same time. A small hallway leads to the toilet, while the shower area is curtained off. The sink is located in the kitchenette area. The Kitchenette is small but functional. There's cold drinking water in the fridge for our guests. Subic Water is potable. There's an electric stove for cooking, and a couple of pots and pans. There is a toaster in the cabinet closest to the bathroom door. The Forest Nest is your private home for the duration of your stay. Unlike a hotel, we don't have any single use items for you to take home. We use large boxes and rolls of tissues etc to limit the amount of trash we generate, and we provide several items to make your stay more comfortable. Please refrain from taking home any extra food, tissues, toiletries or other items we provide. Those items are meant to be used in the Nest and should last for several batches of guests. We have some personal items on display and locked in the closets. There is a lockable cabinet available for your use. It's the one closest to the back door in the bedroom! :) The kitchen is stocked with tea, bread, eggs, peanut butter, bananas, porridge, milk, coffee, cooking oil, salt, pepper, and potable water. Help yourself to whatever you want, and leave the rest for other guests! The bread is kept in the freezer, so make sure you check in there. The Forest Nest is equipped with fiber internet, and you will have access to Netflix for the duration of your stay. Because we live in such a woody area, sometimes our internet connection is disconnected by monkeys or falling trees. Unfortunately, there's not much we can do until the service provider sends a repair crew. Let us know if something is not working, and we'll get it looked at as soon as possible. Feel free to read from our library, but please return the books where you found them before heading home. :) The pool is located a block away. It's a short walk, and you will be well rewarded once you get there! (The pool is closed until the pandemic is over) We live 20 minutes from the Forest Nest so feel free to call us for anything, and we'll get you sorted out. If we don't answer right away we're probably in the water but we'll get back to you as soon as we can! Our area is home to mostly foreign tenants. They are quite friendly and may approach you for a chat. Please be nice to them! We like to maintain a good relationship with our neighbours. Cubi is one of the residential hills in Subic Bay. It's overlooking the water and it's a nice place to walk around to watch the sun set on The Bay. There are a couple of convenience stores nearby where you can get simple meals (and cold coconuts!) and basic necessities. For other needs, there are a few groceries and markets in Subic Bay CBD (Central Business District), about 15 minutes drive from the Forest Nest. Cubi is also a great place to watch for birds, bats, monkeys and other wildlife. Bat Kingdom is just a 5-minute walk down the road from the Forest Nest. It's best to go just before sunset to watch the bats from the roadside. Bring a hat to protect your head from bat droppings! For the adventure seekers, there is a nearby waterfall that is about 20 mins hike from the apartment (go to JEST camp for a guide to Boton falls). You can explore Cubi on our bamboo bicycles for a rental fee of P500/bike/day. We have 2 bikes available. There are several beaches nearby. Our favourite cheap beach just a short drive (20 minutes) from the Forest Nest is Sweet Water beach. It's a great place to watch the sunset or go for a swim. Camayan (15 minutes drive) is a nice beach with a restaurant, but the entrance fees are a little pricey. Acea Resort is just down the road (15 minutes walk or 2 min drive) and they have day packages which you can avail of. For scuba diving, Subic Bay has some nice wrecks. Summer is the best time to go when the water is clearer. Let us know if you need help finding a dive shop and we'll point you in the right direction. Advanced divers only. We highly recommend a speedboat day trip to the nearby coves. The dock is just 10 minutes from the house and it's the quickest way to go see the nearby beaches. More info in our guide book :) For snorkelling and Island hopping, we recommend Zambales. Just an hour drive away, a good day trip is island hopping to Capones Island Lighthouse with a stop over at Camara Island for some snorkelling and lunch on the beach. The jump off point is Pundakit in San Antonio, Zambales. Let us know, and we'll connect you with our friends who have a boat there. Pundakit is also a great place to find surf from June-February. We are a 20 minute drive from Subic Bay CBD. Some attractions and beaches are difficult to access without a vehicle. The best way to get around here is to drive your own car or motorcycle. If you are commuting, there are WinStar jeeps that come around about a block away from our building. They are the white transport jeeps which stop by the church/convenience store. Those run from 9-5, and can bring you to and from town. Taxis are available 24-7. Car, Van, Jeep, and Motorcycle rentals are also available for those who prefer to drive themselves. FACADE Our building is very old and run down. Most of our guests are shocked by its appearance. Don't worry though! It may be old, but it was built by the US Navy to withstand attacks. It's extremely sound, and our units are recently renovated. ACTIVITIES We can help connect you with our friends who do surfing, sailing, yoga, forest survival, island hopping, or guided trail hikes. We have mountain bikes available for rent. Please let us know in advance so we can bring them over to the unit. Rent is P250/day/bike.
