Nestled at the foot of the Ochil Hills, Middleton Bothy is a quaint retreat for travellers to rest their weary heads. The Bothy offers everything required for a simple, peaceful night's rest: a kitchen with full cooking facilities, a comfortable sofa bed, and outdoor seating to admire the views. The small toilet and shower room are in the neighbouring outbuilding - a small dash down the path on cold mornings! There are few places better to enjoy a beer than sitting in our little orchard. A cosy, warm space ideal for couples or individual travellers. The Bothy is modestly proportioned and best suited for short stays - it is ideal for those wanting to explore this historic part of Scotland, and perfect for walkers who want a place to lay their heads when exploring the Ochil Hills. The small outbuilding containing the toilet and shower is plumbed and powered, meaning you can still enjoy a hot shower. The shower space is rather little though, so may involve some stooping for taller guests! There is a key safe at the Bothy entrance meaning you can enjoy a contact-free stay if so desired. Plenty of tourist info is available in the Bothy, but Margaret and Billy are always happy to share their knowledge if needed. Tillicoultry is a small village in Clackmannanshire, the Wee County. Clackmannanshire lies between the majestic Ochil Hills and the River Forth and provides the perfect year-round base to explore the stunning countryside, rich history, medieval castles and tower houses. In the picturesque glen behind the Bothy, several burns converge before flowing south into the River Devon. It was these which provided the power for the textile industry for which the village was formerly best known. Today, the village is mostly known for its many pleasant walks, and particularly as an access point to the Ochil Hills. It is also known for its association with Scotland's largest furniture store, Sterling Furniture. The historic city of Stirling is nearby, home to Stirling Castle, the Wallace Monument, and Bannockburn Heritage Centre. Tillicoultry is a 10 minutes drive from Alloa, 20 minutes from Stirling, 45 minutes from Glasgow and Perth, and 1 hour from Edinburgh and Dundee. Alloa and Stirling both have railway stations, which are well-connected to Tillicoultry by bus service. More travel information can be provided for those not travelling by car.
