This Maltese sandstone house is more than 500 years old and dates back to the time of the Knights of St John. It was once the centrepiece of a palazzo. It is characterized by the majestic staircase with marble stairs that extend from the entrance door to the upper floors. Thanks to an internal courtyard with a skylight, the house is flooded with light. The interior was completely renovated during a 2 year conversion which took into account the Maltese characteristics & historical features. The listed facade is made of sandstone with a traditional entrance door is very typical of the period. To the right of the main entrance there is a key box for self-check-in. During the stay, the host will be happy to answer any questions you may have. The property has an extensive description of the house and neighbouring entertainment options, as well as restaurant recommendations. In a spacious kitchen on the first floor, which is equipped with Maltese furniture, there is a large dining table for people and high chairs and ma three seater sofa. Next to this is an electric heater in the form of an open fireplace. In addition, there is an air conditioning system in the living room kitchen which ensures a pleasant room temperature in hot summer and acts as a heater in the cool winter months. The air conditioning is coin-operated. The kitchen is also equipped with a flat-screen TV with Netflix access. From there you have a view of the corridor towards the pillars in front of the light shaft. The central staircase leads to the four bedrooms on the two upper floors. These are all equipped with air conditioning units that can also be used as heating. The bathrooms are en suite as is the toilet in room 3. The other toilets are located directly outside the bedroom doors. All rooms in the historic house, which was only completed in September (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) and has now been released for rent, have beds with comfortable mattresses and some also with VISCO pads for comfort. The bedrooms: Room 1, The Valletta Room Bedroom 1 is on the floor above the kitchen. It is newly renovated all around and has a comfortable soft fitted carpet and a large double bed (180 x 200 cm) with comfortable mattresses. There is also a table next to the large window with a view of the central internal light shaft. In addition, the room has a second smaller window through which you can see the courtyard in the back of the house. You can expect restful nights and a good night's sleep in this room. It also has the largest bathroom in the house. It is located next to the entrance to the kitchen and has a shower cubicle with transparent glass surfaces, a wash basin, a toilet and a bidet. Room 2, The Marine View Room Bedroom number 2. It is very lovingly furnished with a narrow double bed (120x200cm), a bunk bed for two people (90x190cm) and dressing table. All beds are equipped with VISCO health mattresses, which enable a comfortable night’s sleep. The associated bathroom is en suite and equipped with a shower cubicle and a wash basin. The toilet is right next to the entrance to the bedroom. Room 3, The Antique Room On the second bedroom level is located room 3. It has a new double bed (180 x 200 cm) with extremely comfortable mattresses and a bunk bed for two people (90 x 190 cm) equipped with VISCO comfort requirements. The special feature of the room is the original, antique furniture that was also refurbished in the course of the renovation. It has an en suite bathroom with a bath, sink and toilet. In addition, like room 1, it has a very quiet location. The majestic room height of 4.30 meters makes you feel like people used to live a long time ago in this palazzo. Room 4, The Artist Room The 4th bedroom, which is opposite bedroom 3, has antique furniture. It has been extensively renovated and offers a double bed size (140x200cm) with an en suite bathroom. The toilet is right outside the door to the room. It also has a large, well-preserved antique window with a view of the harbour through the old town streets. A spiral staircase leads to the roof terrace with four sun loungers in the front and a seating area with a table and a three seater sofa in the rear. On the sundeck you have plenty of sun in the morning and a comfortable shadow in afternoon. The rear area has a privacy screen and a sun blind. The terrace also has its own toilet and shower. The roof terrace with a total size of 54 square meters is particularly suitable for outdoor events and barbecues. The equipment for this (electric grills, grilling utensils, etc ...) is provided by the host. From the sundeck in the front area you have a view of the marina and the old town of Isla, Birgu and Bormla. This area, which is located opposite of Valletta, is called Cottonera or "The Three Cities". The guests have access to all rooms and the roof terrace of the entire house. I am available at any time to answer any requests and questions for all my guests. Any inquiries for bookings, before and during your stay will be answered promptly. To the right of the main entrance there is a key box for self-check-in. The code of the security box will be provided after the confirmed booking. Most of the time you are alone at the lookout of the Order of St. John, you only hear the wind, which sometimes carries the dull thud of the ships in the Grand Harbour, and you can enjoy the view of Valletta, Birgu and the Docks in the south. Birgu (Vittoriosa): The first residence city of the Order of St. John preserves historical buildings such as the remarkable Maritime Museum and the proud Fort St. Angelo. For a long time the place was a dockyard, today it is a new yacht marina catering for better-off visitors. Tarxien Temple: The Stone Age facilities at the town of Paola are considered the best example of the late phase; here the megalithic culture found its artistic expression. Inquisitor Palace - Birgu's Knights' Quarter: After the departure of the Maltese Knights around (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) , the palace and the hostels in which the order was located before Valletta was built were disused - little has changed there today. Hal Saflieni Hypogeum - burial cave and place of worship: The cave, discovered in (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) , was filled with human bones from the Magalith period. At the same time, the walls were designed in the form of subterranean temples. Maritime Museum in Birgu: Museum worth seeing for navigational and other artefacts from Phoenician times to the present day. Fort St. Angelo in Birgu: The strongest fortress of the Order of St. John with a wonderful view of Valletta. Fort Rinella: In the old coastal fortress you can encounter the largest cannon in the world and soldiers in Victorian uniforms. Dghajsa Tour: With a traditional Malta boat you start from the quay in Birgu to the Grand Harbour and continue after to Valletta. Hikes through the Cottonera ramparts: to experience the mighty ramparts up close, you need to go on foot. The ferry terminal to Valetta is only a few minutes' walk from the house. The scenic crossing takes only five minutes. It only takes a few steps to get to the harbour promenade, where many restaurants with good Maltese cuisine await you. In the narrow streets of the old town you will find many small shops selling goods for everyday needs. Overall, the historic house is well situated in a quiet residential area with good transport links for all activities on the Maltese Islands.
