Hunters' Cottage

Hunters' Cottage is located in the centre of the popular Lakeland village of Pooley Bridge on the shores of beautiful Ullswater. There are three pubs, an award-winning restaurant, Tea Room, Post Office, shops, Ullswater Steamers and a bus stop all within 200 yards. This first floor flat sleeps two and dogs are welcome in the kitchen and living room only. The flat is tastefully decorated, well-equipped and centrally heated. All amenities and beautiful surroundings available from your doorstep. Private front door entrance, hallway, stair well, open plan fully fitted kitchen with basic condiments , breakfast bar and living area, with internet TV (WiFi code beside the TV). Dog friendly, dog, bed, dog throw for the sofa, dog bowl all included. One bedroom with double bed, built in wardrobe, dressing table with hairdryer. Babies welcome only if you bring a travel cot and they are not mobile. All available to guests I am available next door in Granny Dowbekins Tea Room, most of the time. Beautiful Lakeland village at the foot of Ullswater. The village has 3 pubs, a fantastic bistro, several shops and a Post Office. We are on the Ullswater Way, a new 21 mile path which circumnavigates the Lake, and is served by the Ullswater Steamers and Public Buses so you can do the whole route in sections. The new Pooley Bridge was completed in October 2020, an elegant single span, the only stainless steel road bridge in Britain. Dear guests, in 2015 Storm Desmond destroyed our beautiful 250 year old road bridge into our village. On September 2nd 2019, work will commence to remove our temporary bridge and replace it with the UK's only stainless steel road bridge with a lattice undercarriage that will glisten and reflect in the river below. Before work on the bridge commences a footbridge will be put in place to ensure all footpath and cycle routes are available and easy access to the Ullswater Steamers. This is will be a spectacular sight, however, it will cause disruption. Colin and I would like to make you aware or this before you book our accommodation.The contractors working time will not exceed 8am to 7.00pm Monday to Friday. From September 5th the bridge will be closed so entry to Pooley Bridge will be through the village of Tirril via Eamont Bridge only . Early to mid October is predicted to have the most noise disruptions whilst pilings for the foundations are put in. There will be no night time noise. Access for our village will only be from one direction throughout the duration of the work completing in April/May 2020. Please note to access Pooley Bridge you must use the A6 Eamont Bridge then B5320 going to Tirril then Pooley Bridge. More detailed travel information is available on our site under directions. Unfortunately you will not be able to access parking directly outside our flat for the duration of the construction work from 9th September to January; however, free parking is available in the village, in the square in front of the Crown Inn unrestricted, in the village 2 hr parking discs required only from March to October (these are located in the flat in the guest information pack) . All parking is a short walk from the flat as we are a small village! Whilst the new bridge is being built there is a free car park on the other side of the river past the Steamer Pier. We hope this does not deter you from choosing our location for your holiday and to compensate for the disruption we have reduced the price of our nightly stay over this period. The construction of our new bridge is very exciting for our village and will also bring a lot of interest. Amazing viewing gallery seating will be available at Granny Dowbekins Tearooms. The latest information is that the new bridge will be open to foot traffic by Easter 2020 and road traffic May 2020, the footbridge will remain open throughout this period.
