Bush Haven Chapel near Castlemaine

Enjoy our unique church conversion (built 1861), set on a one acre bush block in the gorgeous goldfields area just 10 minutes from Castlemaine. Our place is perfect if you are looking for a quiet getaway to nourish your soul. Close to mineral springs, a reservoir for swimming and loads of wildlife to spot. We live in the attached house, but the chapel will be yours to enjoy privately so you won't know we are here. Our young pup Maggie, will love to greet you as you come and go. Our space is a church conversion, built in 1861 and lovingly renovated. On a 1 acre bush block in Fryerstown, we are surrounded by native animals, very few passers by and other historic buildings in the area. You are welcome to enjoy the block - our favourite spot at sunset has a seat set up waiting for you. Please note, this property is for couples or individuals only and there is one bed (the day bed is for lounging, not sleeping extra people) If you are wanting a place for a music festival, film shoot, party or anything else, unfortunately this is not currently the place for you. Thanks for your understanding. You will have the Chapel and bathroom to yourselves for the duration of your visit. We will be in the home attached to the back, so if you need anything, just let us know, otherwise you won't hear from us! Please note, there is limited cooking facilities as there is no full kitchen. However we have decked it out with a few appliances to make it possible to cook if you don't want to dine out - Coffee machine, mini bar fridge, slow cooker, sandwich press, microwave, toaster, kettle, single electric hot plate and coal webber BBQ are all available for your use. We live in the adjoining house, so if you need us, we are here. If you'd rather be left alone, you likely won't even know we are here! Fryerstown is a small community nestled in the bush about 10 minutes drive from Castlemaine. It is a goldfields town, with many historic buildings. You won't have to wander far to see Kangaroos and loads of bird life - in fact often you'll spot them from our yard. It's best if you have a car here, as the nearest restaurants are a 10 minute drive. However we are 10 minutes from Castlemaine train station where you can find a taxi to get you here. Please note, the nearest shops are a general store in Chewton (approx 7 minute drive) or loads of cafes, restaurants, supermarket and shops in Castlemaine (approx 11 minute drive). Please drive VERY slowly as there are loads of Kangaroos around. The speed limit says 100km/h but we would advise you don't do anywhere near this speed, especially between 4pm and 10am, when Kangaroos are more likely to be out on the roads.
