Escape to a charming and romantic rural retreat.
The Bull House is a unique barn conversion in a beautiful, quiet and rural setting. It looks out across fields and woodlands at the back of Enys gardens, in the heart of the Mylor countryside. It is situated next to our home, but has a private driveway through a meadow and a private sunny garden. Follow us on social media @thebullhousecornwall The Bull House is a barn, full of character and charm. There is an open plan kitchen, with a unique worktop made from the huge slabs of slate that once lay on the barn floor. There is a dining area with little window overlooking the sunny front garden. The living area has a large stable door leading outside, a wood-burner and Tv with Netflix and Sky Cinema for cosy nights in. The master bedroom has a contemporary four poster bed with French doors leading outside. The dressing room, with antique wardrobe, provides a great space to put all your bags and things, conveniently out of the way while you enjoy the rest of the barn. There is a practical wet room/shower room adjacent to the dressing room. The barn is bright and sunny with vaulted ceilings and exposed beams. The wood burner and underfloor heating throughout make it warm and cosy in winter. The drive to The Bull House leads through a wild meadow. We welcome guests to use this meadow for picnics etc. It is particularly lovely in the evening time. Guests also have a private sunny garden in front of The Bull House. One thing to note, there is a public footpath running through the meadow, so there will be the very occasional walker crossing to get to the style on the other side. We live next door in another converted barn. We enjoy meeting guests and checking they have everything they need, but will also leave guests in peace to enjoy The Bull House and the beautiful surroundings. The Bull House is situated in Mylor Downs, a quiet and rural area of outstanding natural beauty. It’s a great location to get away from the crowds but also a good base to explore the local area and different parts of Cornwall. The woodland of Enys Gardens, a magical subtropical garden, considered the oldest in Cornwall, is on the horizon as you look out over the fields that surround the Bull House. The barn is only a mile from Mylor Bridge, with an excellent village shop, a butchers, fishmonger and a local pub. Mylor has a fine harbour, offering a number of water sport opportunities (paddle boarding and Kayaking) and sailing facilities. There is a harbourside cafe and restaurant overlooking the water. Mylor harbour caters for a large number of visiting yachts and sailing vessels. The Pandora Inn with it's spectacular setting on the edge of Restronguet Creek is within walking distance (40min) of the barn. Parts of the Inn date back to the 13th Century. It's fantastic creek-side location has a floating pontoon stretching out into the Creek for a truly unique al fresco dining experience! The picturesque fishing village of Flushing, with views over to Falmouth, is only a couple of miles away. You can catch a passenger ferry from here to Falmouth. Falmouth is only a short drive away, with a large range of restaurants, a fabulous white sandy beach (recently voted the cleanest out of 546 British beaches, scoring a perfect 50/50 points) and a large number of independent shops. Visit the exotic, sub tropical gardens of Trebah and Glendurgan that lead down to beaches on the Helford river. Catch a Fal River ferry, sailing through an area of outstanding natural beauty. This scenic river trip is one of the most beautiful in the world. Call at Trelissik and St Mawes, past Mylor Harbour, deep sided wooded valleys, historic houses and Tudor castles. There are also many fabulous local walks from your doorstep, with views over the Restronguet Creek and Carrick Roads. There is off street free parking for up to 2 cars. The Bull house is accessed down a private gravel drive, which is fairly bumpy! It has a private south facing front garden and a meadow to the side. You are free to picnic and enjoy the meadow. There is a public footpath that runs through the meadow, but it is quiet, with just the occasional walker. The driveway to The Bull house is fairly bumpy although still very accessible. I have a little VW which is absolutely fine on it.
