Five Acre Farm - The Cabin
'The Cabin' is a brand new architectural boutique accomodation located at Five Acre Farm in Heathcote Valley in Christchurch. It is a unique design of two “pods” - living/kitchen space and the second pod consisting of the bathroom & bedrooms, linked via a covered outdoor deck area. The cabin is the perfect setting for a quiet weekend away for couples or families, clad in natural cedar timber with high vaulted ceiling lined with locally milled beech timber, you will instantly feel relaxed. There is no Wifi or TV, as we encourage complete relaxation! (wifi is available if needed nearby from the onsite office, but reception does not reach to the Cabin, or there are several cafes close by with wifi) There is a small kitchenette (small hobs, oven and sink) with all the essential cooking utensils provided. Please note there is no wheelchair access to the cabin as council regulations require the floor level to be 1.5m above ground. Access is via a gravel path that leads up six steps to the main floor level. There is a deck without a barrier (less than 1m fall), therefore all guests should take extra care on the deck as there is no barrier to prevent falls. Children should be supervised in this area. As this property is on a lifestyle farm, guests must observe farm health and safety guidelines at all times. *Porta-cot and high chair available Guest access is through keypad entry. The Cabin shares 5 acres of land with the main Cottage (also an airbnb property) but is completely seperate and private, located in a peacful rural paddock - no contact with other guests is required. We live 30mins from the cottage so are available if needed. As there are some animals on the property we often need to tend to them but respect the privacy of our guests at all time. We also run a small office business from a shed on the property but this area is completely separate from the cottage & is only used during the week days between 9am-3pm. - Ferrymead (a 10min walk or 5min drive) has all the amenities you could need, supermarket, restaurants, countless takeaway options, pharmacy etc -Lyttelton a small port town just a 5min drive through the tunnel. Known for its Saturday morning farmers market and great dining options. - Sumner Beach (10min drive) Christchurch’s most popular beach, great for a weekend walk. Sumner hosts several good dining options & cafes. -Taylors Mistake Beach (Chch best kept secret) - just 5min drive over the hill from Sumner. - There are many great walking tracks in the area, the new costal walkway from Ferrymead to Sumner has recently been completed. The port hills are known for its walking tracks. Some tracks we suggest are Rapaki, Harry Ell, Bridle Path, Godley Head - a reasonable level of fitness is required for these! Plenty of off street secure parking is provided. Through the double wooden gates - 1min walk from the cabin. The Lyttelton Number 28 Bus from the central bus Interchange goes right past the door, tell the bus driver you would like to get off at the ‘Ferrymead Heritage Park’ the cottage is just a short walk along Bridle Path Road from here. Only a 10min Uber or Taxi from central Christchurch. 30-40min ride from the airport.
