This wooden heritage cottage is one of the oldest properties in Manali with its history dating back to before independence. Iris Heritage Cottage has a history of over 80 years, it being the first headquarters for the Western Himalayan Mountaineer Institute, now recreated into this pristine and serene space. With three rooms, it is surrounded by an apple orchard of about 10 acres. Besides apple trees, there are other fruits like cherries and walnut trees within the orchard. Situated just 50 meters from the road and 1.5km from Manali Bus Stand, a trail to the cottage will please your eyes with apple orchid and a couple of walnut trees on all sides spread across 10 acres. The property has three bedrooms with twin single beds and 5 seater sofa beds at the common area with breathtaking views of river Beas and Mountain ranges. We have in-house Dining/ cafe within the premises which is covered with glass windows from all sides to justify the views of beautiful mountains with few snow-capped peaks. The place is very quiet except the burbling sound of river Beas and a natural stream flowing through/within the premises. The river can be seen flowing on the front with beautiful landscape and sunset. It is 1.5 km from Mall Road/ Bus Stand on Vashisht Road. Guests have access to the Dining area. Guest can use the Dining area and Common area on either floor of the property and can walk around orchid and premises. Guests can park their vehicles in the Iris Cottage parking. We love to interact with our guests, however, we will leave you to enjoy your holiday in peace unless you need us. We live next door so are on hand to answer any queries. It is in the Vashist locality, 200 metres from "Vashist Chowk". (Vashist Chowk is on "Manali-Leh Highway" which is 1 km from Manali Bus Stand/ Mall Road) From Manali Bus Stand, You can either hire a cab or auto, it is 1.5 Kms from Mall road/ Manali Bus Stand, stay on "Leh-Manali Highway for about a km, and take right turn from "vashist chowk" and follow the road for almost 200 metres which will lead you to our parking, you could see there "hotel manali continental" opp to our parking. A small trail (50 metres from parking) will lead you to Iris Lodge & Stays. For extra bed - Extra mattress could be made available for extra person for a room. Iris Lodge is accessed by walking over trail from the parking area crossing natural stream flowing from the mountains by a small bridge (distance is 50 metres approx from parking). Though you have access to orchid for a walk or photography, it is a private property. So do not pluck flowers or apples from orchid. This property has its own identity with more than 70 years of history which was refurbished into this beautiful lodge, so please walk gently when using area on the top storey of the Lodge.
