Cosy Fisherman's Cottage, Hele Bay, Ilfracombe

Cosy and welcoming Fisherman's Cottage in Hele Bay, is just 58 steps from Hele beach and 50 yards from the South West Coast Path. The cottage is dog-friendly and sleeps up to 5 people in two bedrooms. Refurbished in 2019, the cottage has a contemporary seaside theme. Both sitting room and main bedroom have sea views and the small gravel patio is a morning sun trap. The sea-front cafe is a few yards away and there's a pub, restaurant and shop within a few minutes' walk. What more do you need? One medium-sized dog with well-behaved owners is welcome at Fisherman's Cottage, two smaller dogs by arrangement. Hele beach is dog-friendly and a perfect place for couples who want to relax or for families with children who love the beach! You have the whole cottage to yourselves and a small gravel patio at the front. And sometimes - you may even get the beach to yourselves if you're lucky! You'll be given an entry code for Fisherman's Cottage and although I'm not always local, I'm always at the end of a phone and the cleaner/housekeeper is very close by. Hele is a very friendly village and the Snacking Kraken sea-front cafe is ideal for watching the waves while tucking into your favourite tasty dish. Hele Bay Pub serves food daily and the petrol station shop is well-stocked. Hele Billy's Bar and Restaurant is also close by. The Hele Corn Mill gives an insight into milling of old and its tearoom has wonderful cakes and cream teas. Walk up the wooded coast path over Hillsborough for stunning views as you drop down into the Victorian resort of Ilfracombe. Ilfracombe is just a mile away and its pretty harbour is home to fishing boats as well as wildlife pleasure cruisers and safari boats. The MS Oldenburg sails from Ilfracombe to Lundy Island and for landlubbers there's also an aquarium and plenty of fresh fish and chips and Devon clotted cream ice cream! Watermouth Castle and adventure park is just a mile away, and the Coombe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park is only 5 miles. The surfers' paradise of Woolacombe is only a 20 minute drive as is Saunton Sands. Within easy reach is Bideford, Appledore and Instow and Barnstaple's Pannier Market is great for bargain-hunters. Parking is on the residential street outside (residents only), and there's also a public car park just across Beach Road. Please be aware that Fisherman's Cottage is an old cottage so its stairs are reasonably steep with five narrow winding treads at the bottom. It may not suit anyone with mobility issues.
