Somerset Cottage on Second

This Somerset cottage is a perfect mix between homely and quirky with huge open living spaces you'll feel connected with each other as you enjoy cooking, eating, and reminiscing about your day at the Dam. With 4 bedrooms (linen included), 2 dining spaces, an outdoor fireplace & lots of things to keep the kids busy it's a perfect spot for friends and families alike. Split system air conditioning in the main living space and the master will ensure you have a comfortable stay any time of the year! During your stay, you'll have access to the majority of the house, except the shed where we still store things for our personal time up here. There are no doors in the house (except for the front and back) with curtains for each of the bedrooms. This still gives each room privacy, but allows for free-flowing breezes all day long! There is space in the driveway for 2 cars or a car and a trailer, there's also available street parking at the front of the property. When entertaining on the deck/patio, you'll feel connected to nature with uninterrupted views to state forest mountains and privacy from each of the neighbours with high fences. Sleeping arrangements and beds available can be seen in our listing, there are 4 bedrooms with 8 people able to sleep in the beds. All other sleeping arrangements are on sofas or mattresses on the floor. With all towels and linens supplied, all you'll need to bring are your friends & families for a time away. Self check-in information is shared in the lead up to your stay and we're always available via phone if needed. The cottage is location is the Somerset Dam village. 2 min to the coronation hall, perfect for any weddings etc. At such close distance to somerset dam (5min drive), it's the perfect location for a weekend away with your boat or jetski. There's the general store just down the road which sells fuel, coffee, bread etc. but for anything more we suggest the short trip to Kilcoy which is an approximate 30min drive. 90min drive from Brisbane, via Kilcoy or Esk. Ideal for wedding accommodation and perfect getaway for anyone interested in fishing, watersports or just relaxing. Given the location of the property and its proximity to any hospitals or doctors, we have installed a defibrillator that can be used in emergency situations if needed. This is installed in the main living space, there are instructions with the device and an alarm will sound if the door is opened so you'll know if anyone opens it by accident. The house runs on a septic tank, this is located under the deck at the front of the house. There may be at times a slight smell, I can assure you nothing is leaking, this is just the unfortunate impact of using a septic tank. There is plenty of air circulation and air fresheners around to make our guests as comfortable as possible. We are also currently in the process of creating an air seal to cover the entire tank but it's a big job as you can imagine. We hold a security deposit for any damages made to the property. This includes any burning logs still on the fire, house left unlocked or if the house is left in an unsuitable state or the towels and linens are missing - these are counted at the start of ever stay. Also if the defib is used improperly, we will use the deposit to charge a service fee. Any damages should be reported as and when they happen. There is a BBQ outside which is able to be used by guests, if you do use the BBQ it must be clean to a professional standard. If this is not the case, then a cleaning fee will be deducted from the security deposit.
