Stone Cottage

You will be staying in the entire upstairs of my beautiful hand built stone cottage . I have a light and spacious lounge with a kitchenette , 2 character filled bedrooms and a bathroom. I am a 7 minute walk through a reserve to a safe swimming beach and a 15 minute walk to the great coffee and tasty food at the Somers General Store and cafe . There are many fine restaurants and wineries close by . It is a unique craftsman build home with a light bright atmosphere and unusual spaces and finishes surrounded by an attractive garden . It is equally suited to a winter stay where you curl up on the couch in front of the fire , a summer beach holiday or a visit to sample the many fine wineries and restaurants . It is an adult retreat suited to 1 or 2 couples or friends . I have a productive garden and there may at times be fresh herbs and seasonal produce for your enjoyment . You will have access to 3 deck areas . We share a fully equipped laundry . There is a cycle path close by so bring your bikes . You can ride to local shops and cafes and further afield . I will provide a map of the immediate area and advice regarding local tourist attractions. If I am home I will greet you and orientate you . If not I will use a key safe but then contact you when I arrive home . If I am home I am happy for you to knock on my door if you have any questions . I have family who live very close by who may be able to assist you if I am not home . I do work from Monday to Thursday and if I am away I will have someone else you can contact . It is a quiet neighbourhood with no through traffic . You will wake to the sound of birds and they will keep you company all day . There is a reserve very close by that has a resident population of koalas and during the breeding season you will often hear them at night . The local beach has a family of dolphins that are frequently seen, especially on hot summer evenings as they seem to enjoy the activity of the swimmers . The occasional echidna wanders though my garden and the magnificent yellow tailed black cockatoos often land In my trees to feed. It is a short walk to "Coolart Homestead " , a Parks Victoria property that has wetland areas for bird breeding and viewing . It is only a 5 minute drive or a short bike ride to the Balnarring shopping village which has a good supermarket, several cafes and speciality shops as well as several good restaurants. There are many activities to enjoy within an easy drive such as the peninsula Hot Springs , wineries, horse riding , galleries and many lovely local food producers to visit . There is a public bus to Frankston and this also stops at the Bittern railway station which has trains to Frankston that connect with the Frankston line trains to Melbourne. The kitchen facilities comprise a microwave , toaster , kettle and a small BBQ on the deck . There is no oven or cook top .
