Notice to all travellers in Sri Lanka who have difficulties finding accommodation due to COVID-19: We are open and we still welcome guests! Situated directly at the unspoiled beachfront of Beruwala with no "touristic life" around this is the perfect place to truly relax and experience the real Sri Lankan life! Our home was designed and built by ourselves and it was very important for us to only use high-quality and natural materials. Most of our furniture is self designed and locally handmade. All wooden works in our home are made out of jack, mahogany, teak or para mara, a native Sri Lankan tree and treated with nothing else than natural bees wax, as we want to avoid artificial materials like paint and varnish as much as possible. Our natural bamboo bedsheets almost feel like silk. For breakfast we use silver cutlery and antique tableware. The house is surrounded by a big garden, with hammocks and deckchairs to relax. Please be aware, that we do not have air-condition and no attached bathrooms in our rooms as it is not in accordance with our opinion of a sustainable and responsible lifestyle! On our first floor, where our five guestrooms are situated, there is a bathroom with 3 showers and separate toilets. The toilet is a composting toilet to save water and produce compost for our vegetables in the garden :-) Please check out the photos! BREAKFAST: At Amuura Beach House we serve fresh, homemade breakfast which is included in the room rate. LUNCH: We usually serve Sri Lankan Rice and Curry for lunch which is prepared by our local cook and costs 750 Rs. Whenever available we use our own homegrown organic fruits, vegetables and eggs for cooking! Our homestay is designed to get in contact with other people. We love the idea of chatting while brushing the teeth, meeting in the kitchen while doing the dish-washing and sitting together at a table for meals with people you have never met before. And where often new friendships begin! Aside from the guestroom, guests are welcome to use the living rooms with it's book and game collection. There are also many sitting places on the veranda and in the garden. We also offer Ayurveda massages and yoga mats. As the house is our home, we will also be there most of the time, as well as our staff who is very happy to help you with anything you may need. We are glad to share our home with you and let you be part of our life in Sri Lanka, even if it is only for a short time. Apart from the homestay at the beach we have a permaculture garden not far from our home, where we grow organic cinnamon and lots of other fruits, vegetables and spices. There you'll learn how cinnamon grows and is harvested. If you would like to support us in creating a healthier world you can purchase our organic non-sulfured cinnamon or give donations at the farm! Amuura Beach House is the ideal hideaway in airport reach if you like to avoid crowded Negombo or Colombo. Situated in a "non touristic" area you have an almost private beach for yourself to enjoy and unwind. Visit our Cinnamon Permaculture Model Garden where you can learn how to harvest cinnamon and get to know many other Sri Lankan fruits, vegetables and spices! If you like to fall asleep to the sound of waves instead of party music and wake up to the sound of the rooster crowing instead of the busy traffic on the main roads, our homestay will be the perfect place for you! In the surrounding there are many exciting things to see such as the beautiful landscaping gardens of Goffrey (famous architect) and Bewis Bawa (Lunuganga and Brief Garden). Close by are two exciting fishing harbors where we purchase our fish for dinner. In the shops down the road (500m) its possible to buy everyday needs and snacks. Not far away is a small spice mill where you get fresh and good quality spices for reasonable prices. Supermarkets, banks, etc are in Beruwala town (1,5km). If you like to go out there are restaurants and cafes at the beach of Moragalla (1,5 km south). Here are some more things to do in our area: You can do nice snorkeling trips to the Lighthouse Island, which you can see from our house. Not far from us you can do all kinds of water sports and scuba diving. Surfing is possible at Moragalla and Bentota Beach (1,5km & 7km away). We offer tours to our cinnamon plantation, which is reachable by boat and three wheeler. You can do river safaris and see some wild animals on the Bentota River. On Mondays there is a market in the town nearby, where you can see all the fruits and vegetables Sri Lanka has to offer. For more activities and places of interest, we can always give you advise and help to organize your trips. From the Airport in Colombo it's a two hour drive by taxi. If you would like to be picked up from the Airport please let us know! You can also take the bus or train, which is very cheap in Sri Lanka but takes much more time. All buses for every direction pass by in Beruwala town, a 2 minute three wheel drive or 15 min walk from our house. To catch the express trains, we recommend to take the train station in Aluthgama, a 10 min three wheel drive away. We have wifi available in our home. The wifi hotspot is at the table on the veranda near the kitchen! The common areas of our house are CCTV surveilled for your own safety.
