Bagnoregio is a small village of Tuscia: it is 17 km from Orvieto, 28 km from Viterbo, 15 km from Lake Bolsena and Montefiascone, 100 km from Rome and 120 from Siena. It 's the ideal starting point for excursions in the surrounding area, in the young and lively Tuscia as well as in the beautiful valley of the Badlands of Civita, a tiny hamlet perched on a fragile hill of clay. There have been many attempts to tear the erosion that sooner or later will lead to its demise. This is the reason that led to the small village to empty accommodate up to a few units. Here was born in a small house, long since swallowed by landslides, St. Bonaventure, Minister of the Franciscan, philosopher and writer, who was responsible for the fame of Civita in the World. The city experienced centuries of splendor until the earthquake of 1695 caused a series of landslides and subsequent collapse that led to the collapse of the only access road, now replaced by a 300 m long bridge which connects life to Bagnoregio. In the valley there are the gullies, high whitish clay formations. The best definition of Civita is Bonaventura Tecchi's, writer's native place, "the dying city".
