Cosy cottage, private garden, in National Forest

The Whimsy is a cosy modern cottage with log burner and enclosed garden in a pretty National Forest village near the bustling market town of Ashby de la Zouch. Dogs welcome, lots of country walks from the door, and private parking for 2 cars. Excellent dog friendly village pub just 2 minutes walk, and more a short drive. There's a supplement of £5 per night, per dog, payable after booking. The Whimsy has 2 bedrooms, one with a king-size double bed (can be a twin), the other a twin (can be double too); bathroom, kitchen with breakfast bar, and a cosy sitting room with log stove. Fields and forests along lane. Dogs are very welcome, but there is a supplement of £5 per dog. This is charged after you book. If you're travelling with children, you'll need to bring your own cots, high chairs, stair gates etc if required. The house has gas central heating and is double glazed. Please note, due to Covid precautions we have had to remove food items shared between guests, e.g salt, spices, oil etc. The beds have pillow and mattress protectors cleaned between each stay. Blackfordby is a quiet rural village set in rolling countryside on the Derbyshire / Leicestershire border near Ashby de la Zouch. It has easy access from the M42/A42, and good road links to East Midlands airport (20 mins), Donnington Park, Derby, Loughborough, Burton upon Trent and Hinckley. Nearby attractions include Calke Abbey, Conkers, The National Forest, the National Memorial Arboretum, Staunton Harold and Moira Furnace. You'll have the house and garden to yourselves. The house is looked after by our property manager, but we're available by email or phone too if you need help or have questions. There's a key code box with the key inside. The cottage is on a quiet country lane with fields on one side. There isn't any through traffic, and it's very safe and quiet. You can walk to the fields and forest straight from the door along the lane. There are lots of lovely walks nearby in the forest, and a short drive away. It's a great spot for exploring Derbyshire's sights. On-site parking for two cars. There's a pet supplement of £5 per night, per dog, charged after booking. Cats or other pets are not allowed. Bed linen and towels are provided free of charge, but please note to keep down labour costs the bed linen is unironed. You may have to make your beds yourselves, it depends whether the cleaner has had time. As a precaution, we ask that you strip the beds and put dirty linen and towels by the washing machine before you leave. You'll need to bring your own firewood and kindling for the stove. You can buy it from Wickes or the 24 hour Tesco in Ashby. As we live abroad, we cannot guarantee there will be soap, toilet roll or dishwasher tablets in the house, so it's best to bring your own.
