Caldbeck Glamping Barn, in the Lake District
Take a step back to circa1666 in our renovated Grade II listed Old farm barn . Ideal for couples, families & travelers situated in the Village Centre. With use of the outdoor grounds and garden area ideally situated in the heart of the village . Excellently positioned on The Cumbrian Way. We are looking forward to sharing our picturesque barn & village with lovers of the Lake District, scenic walking trails and the magnificent Cumbrian mountains of the Northern Fells right on the doorstep. A truly unique experience staying in this old farm barn. The sleeping area is a studio with everyone together in 1 room. It is important to remember that we provide pillows, cases, towels, shower gels etc.., but guests must bring there own sleeping bags/ duvets. You will have your own private barn and outdoor seating area. The gardens are shared with the other barns and bothy. There is use of a fire pit also if you wish. We'll try and greet you when you arrive. If not the barn has a key safe code to access a key. On arrival we recommend parking in the free public car park which is directly opposite the barn. The car park is outside the Village Pub. Walk down to the wooden gate at the side of the barns and enter there. Take the second door on the right and you have arrived! :) Caldbeck is a pretty Fellside Village. There is a green with a duck pond which is perfect for an easy stroll around. There is a convenience store with petrol and diesel pumps. This little shop has pretty much everything you need from a large selection of drinks and snacks to fresh pastries, coffee and a post office. The Village boasts a Pub, a cafe with fresh homemade ice cream, a gift shop, hairdresser and a Fair Trade shop opposite the church. When exploring the church and quaint beck you will discover The Priest Mill, which is an arts and craft centre show casing an array of hand made crafts. There is also a cafe on there with lovely homemade food. There are so many little walks to explore its hard to know where to start, take the Cumbrian Way in one direction and get up to Caldbeck Common and onto the summit of High Pike if your feeling adventurous. Alternatively take a short stroll to the Bobbin Mill and discover the waterfalls of the beck. There is no public transport to Caldbeck apart from on Saturdays between April and October when a bus runs from Carlisle-Hesket Newmarket-Caldbeck-Keswick andack again, please check Cumbria public transport website for more details. The nearest train station is in Wigton which is about 6 miles away. The area is well known for cyclists and there is a barn for storing your bikes at the cottage and it also possible to hire bikes from us for a small charge. Please bring your own sleeping bags/duvets. We'll provide pillows and cases and towels, shower gel. On arrival we recommend parking in the free public car park which is directly opposite the barn.
