Medieval village 10 km above Menton

Uninterrupted panoramic views across the French and Italian Riviera. Private comfortable stone cottage, with own patio for eating al fresco, and terraces. All modern facilities and fresh decor throughout. 3 restaurants, village shop and 7 buses per day from the coast only 9 kms away. This is a unique unspoilt medieval 'perched' village in the mountains, above Menton, overlooking the Italian and French Riviera and the Mediterranean. You have the complete access to the whole cottage patio and terraces. This village is unsuitable for disabled people as the streets are cobbled with steps. I also offer fresh vegetables and herbs in season, so you can make your own culinary delights! There is a non functional surveillance camera on the shared terrace, as a deterrent for would be intruders. I live in the next door cottage and am available 24/7 for any questions, itinerary details, information and emergencies. We have a doctor in the village. Please note this is a self catering cottage. Arrival time is 4pm. Please INFORM ME if you are arriving after this time. Departure time 10am unless otherwise discussed. Let me know if you wish for complete privacy, but I do need to water the terraces in Summer! Visiting this village gives one a unique sense of travelling back in time. The local people are very friendly and helpful. Everywhere you look or walk there are stunning views. This village may be small but there are 3 restaurants all with panoramic views over the French and Italian Riviera and a 'creperie' (pancakes!) all serving different food. There is a very well stocked village grocery shop if you wish to remain in your own peaceful setting and cook for yourselves. You may also order your daily fresh croissants here. There are artisanal shops offering the perfect gifts for those back home! Courses in coloured glass making are offered in the village. Going down to the Promenade in Menton for that special meal on the waterfront where there are so many restaurants to choose from. How about a very special celebration at the exclusive and world famous Mirazur Restaurant with fabulous views across Menton Bay? The village also has the last Fort on the Maginot line, hewn into the rock, a very interesting visit then you may feel like taking the path further up to the 10th century ruined chateau, with its restored keep giving you a 360 degree views, spectacular! On the descent, walk through the little Medieval garden perched along the terraces below the chateau. There is so much to see and experience, and if you like hiking I can help you with maps and trails. There are 10 different walks from your door! There are 7 (8 in Summer) buses up and down from the village to Menton on the Mediterranean, with further public connections to Nice International Airport and the excellent cheap rail and bus services along the coast, including Italy or inland. You can also order taxis outside the train station. There is a bus stop right below the cottage. Parking is free on the street just below the cottage. This property offers very comfortable and affordable accommodation to visit the well known more expensive places eg Monaco and Nice only 1/2 an hour and an hour away respectively. We are right on the border of Italy, to explore the Ligurian coast. The hiking here is supreme with well marked paths. I can offer advice and maps and the best places to have a picnic by streams.
