The only fully equipped hillside Villa in the Urban Forest of Suthep-Pui National Park, Chiang Mai. The perfect getaway option for these unusual times! Enjoy private mountain views from our balcony or BBQ terrace and a complementary meal each day at nearby Baan Suan Cafe. Close to restaurants, Mae Hia market, Wat Phrathat Doi Kham, Royal Flora Ratchaphruek and Chiang Mai Night Safari. Chiang Mai Airport (CNX) is 20 minutes away. Transport to and from the Villa can be arranged. This is a one-of-a-kind, three bedroom, four bathroom hillside retreat located in a lovely fruit orchard bordered by a seasonal mountain brook. It is consistently cooler here than in the city and much quieter. Over an acre of private garden features mature lychee, tamarind, avocado, starfruit, rose-apple and mango trees, bananas, limes, coffee and various local herbs. Our guests enjoy exclusive access to the entire Villa, including the patio, BBQ terrace and large private orchard and garden. The ground level queen bedroom with ensuite is available for larger groups but will not be booked separately. This unique property is on Doi Kham (Golden Mountain). From our spacious balcony you can enjoy birdwatching and views of its sister mountains, Doi Lek (Iron Mountain) and Doi Ngern (Silver Mountain). Sean, your host, lives nearby and is available to answer questions or to help out when needed. Our neighbourhood is quiet, peaceful and cool. From our spacious balcony a recent bird watcher guest identified 57 different species of birds during his stay. A pair of peacocks are regular visitors. The neighbourhood contains a very limited number of homes owned by people wanting to live in a natural forest setting just a short distance from the city. Several restaurants and coffee shops are nearby, including Royal Project Kitchen, Cham Cha, Baan Suan Cafe, The Cave, and the famous (and delicious!) Baan Pie Charin. Grab (Asian Uber) is available 24/7. Simply download the app. The price is fixed when booking and can pay on your credit card or with cash. It's cheap and convenient to use to and from Doi Kham Villa. Public transport in the form of the red taxi trucks (seelor), can be accessed about a ten minute walk from the Villa at the lower parking lot of Wat Phrathat Doi Kham. (The 300 steps up to the temple complex also start here). We recommend exploring everywhere you possibly can: food and temples, shopping and nightlife in the city, as well as countryside treks and site seeing outside the city. There's an endless list of interesting things to do and see in and around the ancient city (over 700 years!) of Chiang Mai. Doi Kham Villa is the only accommodation sharing the hillside of the famous 1,300 year old Wat Phrathat Doi Kham (Temple of the Golden Mountain). The 300 steps leading up to this temple are only a few minutes' walk from our door. The scenic temple houses a holy relic of the Buddha and a 17 meter high Lanna style seated Buddha, the largest in Chiang Mai. Wat Phrathat Doi Kham's fame has increased greatly in recent years as several believers who have made offerings of jasmine garlands at the temple have won National Lotteries or found success in business. It is especially popular on Buddhist holidays and twice each month when the Thailand state lotteries are held. From the Villa it is only a short walk to Chiang Mai University's huge Agriculture Campus, encompassing several ponds and varied experimental crops. It is a haven for bird watchers, walkers, joggers and cyclists. Check out the locally grown organic market every Saturday morning.
