You will have private use of the whole cottage I will be available at the end of the phone for emergencies throughout your stay. I have a local housekeeper who can help if need be. Purbeck is officially designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the Jurassic coastline is a World Heritage Site. Much of it is under the ownership of The National Trust. Some of the highlights within either walking distance or a short drive from the cottage are: · Climbing up to the 11th century ruins of William the Conqueror's Corfe Castle · Taking the steam train from Corfe Castle to Swanage and back · Crossing from Studland to Sandbanks on the chain ferry · Whiling away the day in the old-fashioned seaside town of Swanage with its Victorian pier · Exploring Durlstone Country Park · Walking the South West Coastal path · Taking in the solitude of the Norman chapel at St Aldhelms Head (a Scheduled Ancient Monument) · Visiting a different beach every day · Fossil hunting on the seashore at Kimmeridge · Marvelling at the spectacular landforms of Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door and Old Harry Rocks · Clambering down to greet the sea at the old cliff-edge quarries of Dancing Ledge or Winspit · Learning about marine life at Kimmeridge Marine Centre · Exploring the ghost village of Tyneham · Day-tripping to Brownsea Island · Taking the kids to Monkey World, Farmer Palmers or The Bovington Tank Museum · Horse riding on the beach at Studland · Days out at Kingston Lacey, Athelhampton, Lulworth Castle or Hardy's Cottage · Scuba diving, sailing, windsufing, kitesurfing, sea fishing A car is recommended but buses to Swanage and Wareham pass hourly through the village.
